My worse nightmare of a job
« on: September 08, 2006, 12:57:39 am »
Hi All
Just had my worse nightmare job, due to being a silly newbie.
End detached house, so 3 sides of guttering and fascia.
Could not get ladders close enough to do top of the 3 sided bay, also my battery of my wf trolley died out.
Also could not reach fascia or guttering on the side of house or the back, due to pitch roof all round the house and too steep to climb it
To save looking a idiot with my trolley, I hooked my 30ft pole to the outside taps.
Now I need to use this pole and scrum really hard the at the gut & facia.
Then scrum the upvc of two 3 side bays on the top and bottom of the house.
Let’s give you list of my nightmare:

Front of house upvc clean,

Gut & Fascia, Garage gut & Fascia, 2 three sided bays, double porch doors, garage door.

Side of House upvc clean

Top gut & fascia, small landing window.

Back of house upvc clean

Gut & Fascia upper, 2 large French doors, kitchen windo, 2 large upstairs windo’s, lower gut and fascia , roof window.

All clean by 30 ft pole only. Also  all the square leaded glass had to be clean after.

Started time 1.30 pm ….end time   8.15 pm all for £65 and £10 of that was a tip.

I know what a stupid idiot I am.

Finish it of with coming home and started to get cold shivers and now whilst typing this hot sweats.

Looks like I have over done myself

£80 takes 2 hours

get small quick release connectors for brush from cleantech or gardiners  £10. take brush of pole and clean garage etx with small pole from cleantech

front and back gutters and eaves with 18 ft pole if you have an unger pole like it sounds you do have, get the hose on the outside, and use a couple of sections to make 18 ft, start at one corner and for the underneath fascia work the pole at an angle draging the pole along the underneath fascia then clean the fascia fronts and gutters dragging along the way for the gutters

for the side do the top sections by reconnecting your pole together again, but only bring it down part of the way until you can seperate the pole and clean with the 18ft sections both sides of the pointed angle

once the eaces are out of the way all the rest is easy

gear to wear

waterproofs wellies rubber gloves and a hat

once you have done a few the speed will come up drastically

we are at present contacting decorators for this type of work
as their surfaces can be clean before they go to the property saving them a load of time cleaning before they can paint, they like the idea as they are straight into painting and it reduces the time they are up ladders getting surfaces cleaned for painting

however to allow them to offset the cost in the job
then they need it for a fair price
they simple add the cost to the job a ong with off setting the time they are saving, relates in not much difference in cost to the customer

jinky
ps get extra lengths of hose to stop moving the trolley all the time

simple leave the trolley in one place and go around the building with the hose

Very strange

Woke up like nothing is wrong with me, What was with all that shivering and sweating last night?
Would it have been all the water spraying over me through my day of nightmares?

Anyway best go and look at the next doors nightmare and see if i can up the price.
