Making Pure Water
« on: September 04, 2006, 08:02:17 pm »
Hi
I have set up my filters to start making pure water.

At present i have the waste water running into a 125lt water butt and my pure water going into a 250lt baffled tank.

I noticed that i am producing more waste water quicker than pure water, Could u tell me if this is right.

If it is, then is there anyway i can resend the water from the waste butt back through the filters,
so i dont keep having to empty the waste water butt.

Also how long should it take to fill the 250 lt tank up.

Thanks Dave

Yes you will have more waste than pure, also dont re use the waste as this will have a very high tds and will reduce your fillter and resin life.

as its only 75

you could buy a extra RO membrane and run the waste into that, that will reduce your waste even more

Hmm more money.

Maybe i need  to tap my waste into a drain, this will save me keep running into my garage to empty the waste water butt

i fill a rain water butt with waste for summer watering of the garden etc

you would only need a extra RO and housing, they are not over the top money, check out RO-MAN

The way things are going it looks like it going to take about 20 hours to fill my 250lt tank up with pure water.  :'(

in the summer it goes into a rain water butt, waters the lawn and flower beds and tomato plants (toms really love to be watered all the time, i have 5 cherry tom plants and we have had over 200 toms so far, so much the mrs has made tom and chillie jam, lovely stuff)

im a meter, so waste water costs me, so this winter im adding a extra RO for the waste

oh and my water is 460 TDS, so yours at 75, you should be thankfull

So i take it then that the higher your metre reading the longer it takes to make pure water?
