I have a 7 ltr vessel and only ever half fill it lasts for ages and ages.

to fill it u need to "locate" an unattended traffic cone and cut the bottom off it makes filling far easier

I think it was sensae who posted a link of a clever idea... put your resin in a CLEAN bucket add PURE water and then pour your slush puppy mix into neck of cannister...simples!

Theres a video on U tube by Wagga - who shows how to fill the DI with resin using a small plastic bottle of Coke cut down to make a scoop, which fits into the neck of your DI tank.  (search you tube for 'DI resin replacement')

Fill it 3/4 full with resin, then top up with water - the resin is heavier than water and will sink to the bottom - the water just gives you a bit of slack to put the filter & pipe through the resin.

The water won't dilute it  - it is constantly flowing through the resin whilst you're working.

To be honest I have never done it personally because i use 10" DI after R.O. but im sure someone will be along soon who can help explain it from experience.

This is what I do-

Fill with resin to 4/5ths (just below where the shoulder starts to turn in. I just use my hands, cupped. Then fill with water up to bottom of neck threads. Then insert riser tube & head- both connected together & screw on.
Make sure there are no resin beads on the threads by rinsing them with water.

WARNING!!!!!!!!

BE VERY, VERY CAREFUL NOT TO CROSS THREAD THE HEAD. IT MAY TAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET LINED UP CORRECTLY.
