Title: Todays Minger
Post by: andyM on July 18, 2017, 07:05:54 pm
This is probably the worst conservatory roof I've ever cleaned.
Its around 35 years old, 20-25ft long, last cleaned more than 5 years ago, unusual shape roof which is higher than usual (probably about 18ft).
I reluctantly agreed to do this for a regular customer, and told them I couldn't give a firm quote as the time it would take was an unknown due to how stubborn the Lichen would be to shift.
Used a combination of Non Nonsense Degreaser, Ecover Washing Up Liquid, Cif and Dettol Mould and Mildew Remover.
Didn't take many photos but here's a few:

i would class that as an easyish job as it was easy access.

i reckon 3 hours.price?(£120-£150).

great job by the way.i hope the customer was happy after all your hard work.

how hard was the lichen to remove?i would of used CIF and my gardiners plastic scraper.was the mildew remover better than CIF for removing the lichen?

Judging by the photos I would probably estimate it would of been about 3 -4 hours too Daz.
But I've learnt to never give a fixed price where Lichen is involved as it varies in how long it can take to remove.
The Lichen was a sod, and one whole side of the conservatory I had to do scrubbing and rinsing off a 3 section ladder, as it's much higher than a standard conny and the roof is an unusual shape.

I reckon that is one of the best 'before and after' pics I have seen. Top job. Which one of your products worked the best?

Good old Cif, but the Dettol Mould & Mildew Remover (Bleach based) did a great job in removing the brown Lichen staining from the white bits which nothing else could touch.

Looking good plenty of job satisfaction with that well done , we enjoy doing jobs like that as most cleaners tend to shy away from them around hear
