"Gel" backed carpet?
« on: January 19, 2006, 04:43:31 pm »
Hi,
Ive just had a lady call from a furniture shop who needs her "gel" backed carpet cleaned. Im going round tomorrow to quote, but i'm not at all sure what she might mean by "gel" backed.  :-\

For your info I use a Steamway T/M.
Any ideas on this is most appreciated.
Ben

Hi Ben

The only thing I know about Gel Carpet, is that is replacing bitumen backed carpets as it's greener to produce, it's mainly used in commerial flooring but is probably making it into the home as it's lighter than bitumen and good for kitchens and bathrooms,

My guess is that it will be a short pile carpet maybee even tiles, man made fibres
Have a good look first if not certain but you shouldent enounter any problems, just be carefull of citrus gel solvents as I dont know but it could disolve the gel the same as with a bitumen carpet

hope this helps
