Self Cleaning Ovens

What are self cleaning ovens ? Can`t get my head around
This at all.
It only applies to domestic ovens or so I`m told.
How do they work,?

In the owner's manual you will find the instructions for periodically self cleaning. Basically, the heat is turned right up and left until the fat/spattered food carbonises into a powdery substance, which is then easily cleaned. Most ovens now have self cleaning panels inside, they are the hardest part to actually clean ;D

I dip tank them and they come up great most of the time...

Imagine they create a lot of smoke and smell while " cleaning "

I've got a self-cleaning oven - the missus does it.  :D ;D

When I offered oven cleaning around 4 out of 10 ovens I cleaned were "self cleaning" although most owners did not know how they worked. Still need glass, racks and bits which are not self-cleaning to be cleaned though ;D
former carpet cleaner, now retired!
