Post by: craigR on November 15, 2017, 02:58:02 pm
Doing a render clean on K Rend with moderate staining . Planning  to clean with aprox 3.5%-3.75% Sodium hyperchlorite  ( 14 -15% 1part sh to 3 parts water). Not sure whats considered optimum without going too strong.
Your thoughts please.

Thanks

Go do a test, a photo might have helped but to be honest you are not going to get any real helpful advice. With it unseen

I’d go do a test with a week solution, SH works so quickly you can get a good indication  within 20mins  of what will work or won’t work

As Mike as stated , do a  test patch
Not only this gives you the option to use a variety of cleaning solutions but also the best  method to clean a particular surface.
This will also give you an idea on time frame to complete the  job and equipment required to factor in

We use a similar strength usually 1hypo  To 4 parts water works well on most surfaces but with k rend usually spray with hose first as it will help the mix stay on the surface . Most of the algy we have down hear is red ,  Black , sometimes more than one application is needed let it dwell for 20-30 minuets and re apply if needed light scrub and plenty of rinsing with garden hose after

Just realised our hypo is usually 10% strength so our mix will be weaker 1-4

Would recommend to do a test patch. I am not saying its a solution for your job but interestingly by playing with dilution rates on test patches I personally found loads of stuff cleans already at  1 to 1.5% - more stuff than I actually expected.

All ways do a test panel on the surface on the day....there are so many factors that determine what will work and when. Type of surface, type of soiling, ambient temp, weather conditions, water temp....I could go on.
