Looks clean and simple, I thought your other site was good though?

One I thing I noticed is your current insurance certificate is out of date.

Good point bobby think i might pinch that idea i was using the we as i felt it appeared as though i was a company to potential commercial clients .

But with domestic clients it is a good selling point as some custys dont like the idea of 2 -3 lads turning up and not really knowing who they are and prefer to deal with owner at all times . Mike

A little more colour, and sort out the stretching, it does look a little amemic at the mo matt, apart from that (the design it is fine, you know how to do a little seo so not going to suggest anything there, as dont want to try and teach you to suck eggs.

Handful of proof-reading errors:

In addition to our window cleaning services we also offer conservatory cleaning, gutter cleaning and clearance
as well as fascia, soffit, barge board and cladding cleaning.

I'm getting a very oddly placed carriage return between "clearance" and "as"

"complement" not "compliment" - different meanings. Used twice on page one.

"...if specifically required; but our cleaning methods also incorporate..." - you need either the semicolon or the "but"; not both.

"...wish to enhance it's appearance for potential buyers..." no apostrophe in "it's" in this sentence.

"...notice when its dirty..." does need an apostrophe.

Sorry if they seem picky but to me it does make a difference and I may not be alone.

However, the overall comment I'd make is in line with one above - it looks a little bit "anaemic".  I have no idea (obviously) what you've used to design it but is there a way of putting a background image behind the site?  Even a flat wash of colour or a graded colour might help.

i agree with ww and what he said..i am no expert tho just was my first impression it looked a little bland and scattered..def needs colour and the stretching needs sorting..mine is here www.impactcleaning.net although i didn't do this one  myself and may not be everyones cup of tea.

"we also specialise in offering additional external cleaning services...."
I would say- 'we also offer' or 'we also specialise in'. Your wording sounds like you specialise in offering and not the cleaning.

The word press sites seem to be ok for people to create their own. Look pretty good too. You ever looked at that (never used it myself)

It is pretty easy to setup... I need to add some more pictures to mine though.

I'm sure that's not true  ;D.
I don't think you need both 'specialise' and 'offering' together like that. You wouldn't mention it if you weren't offering it. Go for 'specialise' or 'offer', depending on how much you want to push that side of it.

Do you think you will do web design long term?

www.clearmagicdesign.co.uk

It will be happening by the end of the year.

My first attempt was for my missus empire www.snackhub.co.uk it's not finished yet and I'm learning about PHP etc to put all the order forms in place. There are still restrictions in what I want to achieve but it's all part of learning.

I'm still gonna run the cleaning company but this will be my new baby come the end of the year.

I was learning at college but people were slowing things down so now I teach myself through online tutorials on a subscription site. I have spent about 5 solid weeks so far mon to fri 9 till 3 learning HTML and CSS.

Matt.

Another one: "maintain and complement your properties external appearance" - should be property's.

I HATE doing this!  It makes me feel very picky indeed.

I'm sure it will all go well for you mate  ;)

I used to do a bit of web design and did toy with the idea of setting up a business doing it... Then I thought about subbing the actual work out to students etc... and just being a middle man adding a certain % on top... But I prefer being out and about.

How will you charge for a website?    The guy who is currently building me a new site for my other business charges a £50 setup fee and then £25 monthly which includes a certain level of SEO, his charges rise if you want more SEO etc.. doing - Seems like a good model to me as he has a monthly income from each client instead of just being paid for each site he designs, works well in the long run I think.

I don't know how I'm gonna price yet or what model I will create but what I do know how to do is get the appointments and have a few links into the design world as I was there formerly but in the print trade.

I'm thinking of linking in with a small team that can do the areas I can't as I want to still be the creative edge as opposed to programming.

But also I want to create a business as that is also a keen interest of mine. A small studio with a few programmers and designers would be nice

Nath, images need optimising, how d'you mean?

A lot of your images are quite big,.. the header is over 350k alone.

Its not a big deal for broadband users, but the growing number of ppl surfing on tablets & phones with a patch mobile signal may find it very slow to load. Most image software will allow you to optimise the file size without loosing too much quality.
