Well Out Of Order
« on: August 01, 2006, 06:16:59 pm »

Dropped my kids off at my mother in law today and she told me she had
new window cleaners that had doubled her price. This firm has bought over
the original cleaners round, cleaned the houses and then demanded more
  money.

Surely as a firm they should introduce themsleves and advise of a price
increase the next time, not there and then. Well out of order. I know the
last window cleaner charged peanuts but they are taking the mickey.

Also positive they are not licensed. >:(

  Should this happen ?

They can't just double the price without informing the customer first.

That's not on.

I would only pay what the previous window cleaner charged and then cancel; since that was the original terms and agreement; unless I still thought what I was getting was value for money.

It sounds extremely agressive and cheeky to me.

No!
I agree its out of order to spring a price increase on someone without warning.
I always say price will be going up to £.... next time.
A mate near me had a wc turn up out the blue saying he'd cleaned his windows and wanted paying. My mate paid up 'cos he didn't want an argument. ???
I wanted to get him out in my van and go looking for this wc.

Still, it does make the rest of us seem ok.

Tell her to tell them to take a hike.
She has agreed to have her windows cleaned at X price and thats what she should pay.
If they are going to up the price they should inform her first.

Its quite simple.

If the new window cleaner has not agreed a price increase prior to the clean then he can only exect to be paid the original price.

I would suggest paying him the normal amount and explaining that a 100% increase is not acceptable and if he is not prepared to continue at the agreed rate or as near to it as possible then he would be no longer required.

If she hasn't personally agreed with the new window cleaners that they can clean her windows, then she need not pay at all. ;D

Serve them right for being cheeky.
