Tds reading
« on: July 27, 2006, 11:06:12 am »
My tds reading is 10 and I have 200ltrs of it. Is this ok to use? Also one of my ro membranes has gone really green. When I change my resin I can bring the reading down to 0000 so does it matter if the membrane is green or should i look to change it?

Cheers

Must be an Ionics one.  Their filters have a habit of changing colour   :)
Sorry mods.  Couldn't resist it  :)

wow its reading 175 after the ro??  Change the membrane along with any prefilters etc that haven't been changed recently.  RO'd water should never be that high.

Hi,

Does seem like you need to change your ro membranes, my tds is around 390 before ro and around 6-8 after then after di 000.

I've just flushed the system and tested the water after r/o, 025, so the flushing has definatley helped. To be honest I dont use my system much so I have never really flushed it out. Somethimg I shall have to do more off me thinks.

What type of ro is it??

If its Ro-man type then I'd take the membrane out and rinse it down with pure water (that water at 10 will do) and make sure I give the housing a good clean out too, to remove any green (use gloves).  Finally I'd backflush it again 3 or 4 times for 15mins a time.  The reading should come down to about 2ppm providing the membrane isn't knackered.
