Location For Christmas Party
« on: July 12, 2006, 08:24:56 am »
Hi everyone,

Based on the poll it appears that, most if not all would travel up to 100 miles with accomodation either arranged by yourselves or under a group booking.

I would suggest a group booking only due to the fact that we will be able to negotiate a better discount.

With the 100 mile radius I think the most central location would be Coventry. this will capture the majority of the UK giving everyone a fair chance of reduction in travelling time.

Obviously, this will not suit some of you, and for that I am sorry, but it really is a vast area to cover.

So what I am going to suggest is this:

If you are SERIOUS about attending the party you need to just post YES, below.

If you have any questions or queries please EMAIL me direct to avoid blocking up this posting, email address is:  trevknight@tkworld.fsnet.co.uk

I can then get rates etc... and come back to you all with feedback.

I think the format would be something like this:

Late afternoon check in.
Meet and greet drink in bar
Change for evening meal
Evening meal with possibly Supplier sponsored auction for charity.
DJ until you pass out or crawl off to bed.
Not for the feint hearted breakfast
Followed maybe by an informal chat on any issues reagrding this forum and an opportunity to have your say (will have to speak to mike first)

So, if you are serious about joining in please post a (yes) below.

Many thanks,

Best wishes to you all.

Coventry is fine for a get togeather but not necessarily Christmas. If Windex is at NEC next year that would surely be a better time.
Also, hotels get busy at Christmas and that usually means the prices go up.

Trevor

your a brave man, sorting out a xmas party for a forum is a thankless task, and OFTEN fruitless

i used to run a BIG tech forum, and we used to have 1, it was allways split between area's, at its peak, we had 4, south, north, NI and Europe (which was amsterdam)

loads say they are interested, but not many see it through

the better bet is to have it around the same time as a show

we used to have it at the same time as a show in london, this was a far better success

hmm,

246 views and 6 yes's

On that basis I don't think it is worth persuing or spending my time organising.

Maybe we should just say hi at the next Windex, think thats best way forward.

Still, at least I can say I offered.

Cheers,

Trevor when you first asked about a get together my first thoughts were great I'll be there, But somehow as some else has said in another topic, the mood seems to have changed in the forum lately and that may explain why some are having second thoughts, as you say perhaps a more low key meeting at Windex will be better.
