Title: Anyone SSIP accredited? ( safety schemes in procurement)
Post by: Terry A on November 15, 2019, 05:15:35 pm
I've been asked to be an SSIP accredited member by a client.I've never heard of it.
I've heard of Chas and I've been safecontractor but not at the moment.
Can anyone tell me a bit more about it?
Regards

Terry

Yes they're all the same. Safecontractor, Chas and Constructine. Checking your H & S procedures and policies. Depends who your working for. I have Constructionline as most of our work is on building sites but the other two maybe better for public buildings. They all cost money.

I don’t subscribe to any of them!  As far as I am concerned they are all a f****ng rip off and a way to extract money.  If you want our company to work for you then take us as we are with our reputation.  We did a job last year for a major Hotel Group, they rang us and said you have to pay our H &S to sign you off or you don’t work for us.  I just said OK we’ll give it a miss.  They then said No No No you have agreed.  Their H & S company rang me and said it’s at your peril if there is a H & S inspection.  Well guess what there was and we were the only company out of 9 contractors to pass.  Work that one out!  H & S is basic, it’s just  common sense!  Half these So called H & S specialists have never even worked on a site.  They learn in a classroom and think they know it all
