Title: battling the weather
Post by: paul ette on January 05, 2014, 09:58:46 am
yes i know another boring weather post - just wondered how everyones dealing with this wet windy weather, im currently really behind and weather is set to continue, dont know if i should try and plod on or just leave it.
i dont mind working in rain but heavy rain and strong winds is totally pointless

Same here.

I seem to frequently not know whether to work or not and my rounds are a complete mess. I guess all I can do is sit and wait.

We have no choice in the matter. Head down bash on. If your customer tells you not to bother tell them that is not a problem, you will see them next time round.

People will understand that you need to work.

Think everyone is in the same boat, not a lot you can do about it I suppose.....although there are a few on here who reckon they still work through it ::)roll     Looked at a few jobs I done last week and they are rotten again :o

That's exactly the way. If they don't want fine, but you can still crack on.

Forecast for next week is much improved by comparison.

We worked all day Friday, it was atrocious here. One place that's £95 we turned up it just threw it out of the skies. We sat in the van until it passed, got out, she waved a cheery smile and didn't say a word about the weather or turning us away.

Don't make assumptions or try to second guess.

All sorted here.round scheduled for this month which I sorted out back on the 21st Dec.

3 good days in already this year.

Tomorrow doesn't look good although I'll be cleaning unless it's a hurricane.

A big block of housing association flats first thing then a new ,£45 job booked  in the afternoon. her Windows are filthy!as long as it's not Gale force winds I'll clean them as I'll have to use the 47 footer to reach the top windows.

I'm not behind with work really as 're scheduled for this year.

Regards

Pretty much the same as most have said here. I am not happy working in the rain or wind (I'm trad), but work within reasonable limits. If I get a 'not today' it's not a problem. I just call back next time.

Wise words matt, no point in getting stressed about.

WFP everything in bad weather.

If you think the windows that you've cleaned look dirty after a storm, imagine how dirty they would look if you HADNT cleaned them!

No problem cleaning in the rain but stormy weather is a no for me.
Make more than enough money over the year to cover a few lost days to stormy weather.

Now on the third heavy/torrential downpour this morning with strong winds. Looks like it's going to be another day written off.

Storm force winds here and intermittent heavy rain. I've been out this morning and have done a few, but I've 3 more to do and I don't think they are going to get done, especially as one is a large detached rural property.

I'm sick of this now. I was £520 down on what I should have taken in December, and January is panning out similar.  >:(

Was blowing a gale earlier and that's interspersed with heavy showers and sunshine here. I've done a couple of small jobs this morning, and have an hour's work at a school this afternoon. There's no chance of doing any ladder work today, so, other than that, I've sacked the day off.

Hi Carl
I seem to recall you were quite against working in the rain because of customer service concerns.
I don't like working in bad weather either for the same reasons - hence at home - blown back home!!!!!
Are you re-considering??

Yep, I am generally against working in heavy rain, but luckily today i've been able to do ones where I know the results will be OK (they are not on a main road) and where the custies are out - I'm fairly sure I won't get any comebacks. I'm sat at home now waiting for a break in the weather to do those last 2 and it does look like I might be able to get out in a few mins. Day to day I'm going to continue vetoing heavy rain days. Been hard hasn't it  ::)roll
