Hi guys,

I am from South Africa and have a few clients who are worried that pure water may damage wooden window frames (pure water is more aggressive than other water - they say) by causing paint, varnish etc. to deteriorate prematurely. They say a few drops of rainwater is a little different to being flooded in every crevice once a month by the wfp system. Have been using wfp for 5 years. What do you guys think because I am getting upset know as I feel it is the UV and it rains much more than the windows are being cleaned by me.

Any feedback will be appreciated (even scientific if you want)

Pure water won't do any more harm to wood window frames than rain water.  If the frames are in poor condition, ie, gaps between the glass and the putty or seals, or cracks in the wood or joints where the sun has caused expansion, then water will get in - any water.

If the frames are maintained in good condition with regular painting or varnishing, sealing any gaps or cracks,  then water - pure or any other kind - won't harm them.
