Hi. New bloke here. Anybody out there know whether any spares are available for these machines? The firm went bust about 18 months ago. Need drive side bearing assembly.

Hi Chris,

I was in a similar position a few years back, with no manufacturers parts available. I found a specialist bearing supplier in yelow pages who supplied a suitable substitute.

If you do come across anyone with Holloway parts, I for one would like to know the name.

Best of luck with your quest.

John.

Me too I,ve had one for about 25 years, only use it now and then. The problem I have is sparks coming from one of the motors. I suspect bushes but John will have a better Idea! Sad thing is they used to be in Harlesden only a 5/10 minute drive for me, but I never went there.

Hi Michel

Main motor is no problem. I've had them rewound before, cost about £150. Vac motor could be a problem, luckily never had one go (yet!)

Michel,

As you suspect, it is most likely to be arcing at the brush /commutator.

I have over the years 'manufactured' quite a few brushes by buying a new carbon brush of similar (slightly larger) size, then reducing to fit with emery paper. This sometimes involves removing the carbon brush from the supplied brass holder and fitting it into the old holder.

Hi,

The Minuteman CC-3 Pile Lifter (http://www.minutemanintl.com/) looks almost identical to the Holloway Pile Lifter, so the parts may be interchangeable. Give Scrubtec Ltd a call on Tel: 0121 3558840. They may be able to help you.
