Fire proofing is practically impossible  .I have always used the term "Flame retardant". As nothing will truely fire proof cotton.

The flame retardant liquid can be bought from lots of janitorial /cleaning suppliers. After cleaning I spray it on , and charge £3/m2 for cleaning and £2/m2 for the flame retardant. I always provide a letter certifying that it has been treated with Bs whatever the number is on the bottle.
I make it clear to the customer that it will slow down fire , not stop it entirely.

If the curtains are for a public building then making sure that they are fire retardent is legally required by the landlords / owners.

Sometimes the fabrics have an inbuilt guard against fire and others its applied during the manufacturing process usually as a coating.

If they are coated, this coating will eventually wash / dry clean off and if you claim to have renewed the fire retardent, they may ask you to provide a certificate of competence to confirm that they have been re-treated professionally.

In drycleaning this is a very specialised thing and ridiculously expensive but for hotels etc its a legal requirement and the certificate has to be issued and im sure the same will apply here.

As a dry cleaner and carpet cleaner, we do hundreds of curtain flame retarding per year. As I was aware any public building, hall , churches , schools or landlord for furnished houses, shops etc nightclub & pubs.
We are aware that some curtains have to be able to accept the flame retardent coating.
Some material state that they are able to withstand 5 or some even 50 cleans
As for the ridiculously expensive, we are one hell of a lot cheaper than most ridiculously expensive carpet cleaners like Jason L. lol

You just spray it on. Flame retardents are basically only a salts solution and as the moisture evaporates off the salts are left behind in the fabric. It is these salts which inhibit the spread of flames.

We only do it in a dry cleaning machine, yes the one like Johnsons have in the High Street, cost about £23 grand plus vat and we have 2.
The returns on investment  are not as high as carpet cleaning or window cleaning pound for pound

As for the pound behind Jason, you did very well up here in the grim north, we do ok as no debt, we own our factory & shop and not a penny of debt till tomorrow, getting new Doblo Maxi van

because the place is full of money !

My brother in law lives on Wynyard estate and some of the houses on there defy belief !

I always thought that you could service that estate alone and no-one else and still make really good money.

I know lots of people who live on there , most houses I have ben in have large areas of Karndean and amtico flooring.

I have done several insurance jobs on there for footballers/ex footballers and the new money types.eg lots of chavs with cash on there.

Looking on  Rightmove , you can get  a nice 4 bedder on there for 400k still ,, going up to around 3 million.

One of the local Chem-dry  operators even lives on there.

The people with the real money on Teesside  live in the villages to the south , just over the border into North yorkshire
