Good strategy:-)
Start on a lower pressure to get the feel of things.
Keep the lance at a distance of around 10 inches and at an angle of around 45 degrees.
As you get the feel increase the pressure and go nearer as required (lichens etc.). Do not blast at the joints or you run the risk of lifting blocks.
I'd suggest a wide fan nozzle to begin with but as you get better switch to a turbo nozzle, but take real care as used incorrectly you'll have big problems (as with all things start steady and build up).
If you can get your hands on a good quality rotary then do; Whirlaway or Mosmatic are best but be sure you PW has the pressure required.
