Which Hot System would you really like?
« on: December 11, 2010, 10:13:23 am »
With a pause in the freeze - Be honest - Do you wish you had a hot system?
Which one do you think is best?
Is it worth the extra cost?

I know all this is being debated on different threads but I'm just trying to get it all under one topic.
After having a new battery and charger, replacement windscreen, RO still thawing out si don't know if any damage there yet, 300 litres flooded van yesterday when in line filter split after defrosting ...  I think I need to move somewhere warmer as it might be the cheapest option!

I think that the infinity lite from Concept 2 0 looks good.

It would be great if they did a twin setup and had fitting centres around the country, and of course if it was even cheaper it would be even better.

Facelift looks ok

Could anyone who has a facelift or a concept 2 0 tell us what they think about them, we keep getting onfo on other makes

i would still have my pure freedom hot. The main reason i got it is because the foot print of the system allows me to have a lot more floor space to carry my other bits (gutter vac etc) All the other competitiors system seem to take up a lot of floor space so i would need a bigger van which i wouldn't want.

If money was no issue I would be tempted by the pure freedom diesel system.

That said, the simplicity and low running costs of my DIY gas system are fantastic,.. I'd prob end up getting a new shiny gas heater with a CE mark to replace the L5, & spend the change on a holiday. :)

i dunno how much it costs for a gas system to run but my diesel one is hardly noticable on my fuel bills so i think this pound a minute malarky is nonsense. it would cost me about 40 a week to run if thats the case and no way its costing that...

i'd be surprized if its adding more than 5 - 10 quid on my fuel bill

I'd go for a gas fired heater, with frost stat protection.  However I'd have to hack into it as well to get the simple things I want that would be overlooked by a pro install, like valves before and after the heater and pumps so that you can drain the system or get a direct feed.

dont want a hot water system apart from keeping your hands warm
it doesnt stop the water freezing when it hits the floor my nice store
of bags of rock salt solve that problem for me,
90% of my custies normally leave there heating running so no
freezing on the windows and with less birdlife flying about i dont
need it for any hard baked on bird cack ;D

but if i had the money and had to make the choice i would want
the best money could buy and it would have to be diesel, not
keen on the idea of gas :)

i cant fault my purefreedom system and unlike the concept one still works even when flow rate is below 2 litres a minute, and prefer it to the ionics one as the temperature is fully adjustable and not just two settings also as steve says i am finding ot very cheap to run.
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt
