Neil, Luckily i know someone with vinyl cutter who did me van for free, so not able to comment on costs 8)
My personal view is that you should not advertise prices otherwise no calls will come through for enquiries. I find that many people who call for qoutes (80-90%), go on and book the work. They are saying that after talking to me, it is apparent that i know what i am talking about. Some are saying that they ask questions about the proceedure and the person on the phone does not seem to understand the question let alone know the answer. (Thats apart from the company phones manned by someone who has english as a 2nd language) :o I have gained work from telephone enquiries even after qouting higher prices, as a result of CHATTING.
My view is that if you are after quality work in quality homes and neighbourhoods, then your van must be smart and classy looking :-X(oooops .....that will start something). Less is more in my eyes and a nicely signed van will attract a lot of attention ..... without going to the extreme and making it look like an ICE CREAM VAN ::). My van is on 1st page of my website, take a peek, SIMPLE AND SMART..... does what it says on the tin, down to number plate ( that causes comments also ;).) Check out as many websites as possible to get a larger number of ideas..............immitation is a form of flattery...........just do NOT copy exactly. ;D GOOD LUCK

I agree with Chris.
Regarding the signwriting, keep it  simple. I have seen so many vans around, not just CC but all trades, where there is so much verbiage and clutter that it's difficult to know what exactly the owner does.
I live on a busy arterial road, and cannot garage my van because of it's height. All I have on the van is my name, what I do (Carpet and Upholstery cleaning) and a phone no.
I've had numerous calls from people driving past and jotting down my number. Make sure the phone no is in large print. People could not care less what process you use, whether you have the biggest truckmount with all the bells and whistles or much of the other useless print seen on vans. KISS is still the best philosophy.
Don't advertise price on your flyers. All that does is divert your potential customers from the things you want to sell, like good quality work, to price... sell benefits and yourself, not a low price.

Hi

It's all been said and I agree with both the previous posts.

I had my own van signwritten (vinyl) earlier this month and Like Chris I can't tell you the price as I have arranged to clean some carpets for the company who did the work as payment

The price you quoted sounds about right though

Regards
Derek

June 2002 had both sides of my van signed cost £150 inc VAT. Dec 2003 had the back and a slight change to sides done £ 60. So £ 175 is about right.

Another good reason for all to add area details to signature in profiles, no matter how vague..........see below. ;) simply shows what part of the country i am in and easy way to contact me, without showing phone number ( NO ADVERTISING IN FORUMS  :-X )

Hi

I think Chris, Jim and Derek hit it on the nail

Great idea Dan DIY fitting, but do hope your friend supplies full fitting instructions and tricks of the trade on fitting, as once totally stuck you cant peel it off to use again, IT’S US!! Water is the key.

How big is your van? Escort or a lwb Sprinter size costs.  I also got mine more or less free I do favours they do favours, it’s called networking

Steve, Sorry mate but too many threads to read to start rummaging through each persons profile :-X
You know where i am based without trying to find my profile 8) so i feel it just makes answering questions etc, much more straight forward.  ;)
Yorkshire still a bit far to go ........cost me £50 in fuel :o

Try this out www.stickair.com
It is a do it yourself ordering site based in France.
I went thru the system and ordered the kit 2 days later it arrived
Easy to fit cost £80 for me to do both sides, rear and both doors

Good luck
