Who exactly do we contact to get SSEP

I HAD To get sick pay from dwp  when I had hernia opp.     They want to know everything .   They will then send forms out.      If they nose into your bank accounts and see savings you might be stumped

Who is going to pay for all of this?
Us, for years to come. There will be a recession when things get back to some kind of normal. After the recession tax and N.I will be hiked up in order to put money back into the coffers.
Correct. But let's see what we actually get first.
Boris might even ask the extremely wealthy to contribute but I wouldn't be too hopeful.

If this happens what would I be entitled to as I’ve only been self employed for 10 months

Nobody knows.

It'll be woolly for everyone.
Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism, as I understand it - George Orwell

Boris has a 91% approval rating currently for the way he is dealing with this issue, according to LBC.

I don't know, James.
Maybe when we know more it'll be clearer for you. It's said that it is a very complicated time for those trying to sort it out.
I get that but I think we'll hear something this week.

What were you doing for the 2 previous years? That should be taken into account somehow, assuming you were a UK taxpayer.

I was on benefits ESA as I had bad depression, I’ve worked hard to get back into work and build my round, it took a lot of battling my anxiety to do this and now it’s all going to poop  :'(

This is not passed, it’s been tabled as an amendment by the Liberal Democrat’s.

James if you can't work due to lockdown, your customers will understand and welcome you back when restrictions are relaxed. In the meantime just keep working and observe the distance restrictions. That's what I will be doing.

That’s for clarifying that Pete. I searched this morning but couldn’t find confirmation.

The chancellor has just spoke in the House of Commons and confirmed he’s well aware of the issues with the self employed, more announcements will be made later in the week.

I guess the 80% would be best case scenario at this point then. Personally I’d be over the moon with 50%.

Because my round is small i don’t have any work due until Monday now as I bashed it all out quickly last week and start of this week knowing lockdown was impending, so off now until next week so I’m just seeing how this will play out until then.

If there's any thoughts of doing something daft (like harming yourself), speak to someone and made an appointment with your doc.  Depression is a life-threatening illness; it's important that you get help with it.

And all this coronavirus stuff, it's not forever, just like what you're experiencing now.

Sky news main headline this morning confirming the package will be announced later today. I wouldn’t be getting our hopes up though, there’s some very worrying quotes in the article.

“A coronavirus bail-out for the self-employed is being unveiled by the chancellor after pressure from MPs, but handouts could go to only one in three of the five million who work for themselves.

But while he will promise to match the 80% of earnings he promised staff employees last Friday, the monthly cap is likely to be lower than the £2,500 in that coronavirus scheme because many self-employed pay less tax.

And it is likely only about 1.7 million, a third of the UK's self-employed, will qualify, with those who have separate earnings as company employees and those on Universal Credit - already promised help - excluded.“

That’s the first hint that people that trade as LTD companies and get paid by way of dividends will be excluded.

It's also been mentioned that some won't receive help because they don't need it. The wealthy self employed.

I wonder if the package will coincide with a lockdown.
I can't see them offering it and letting us choose whether we work or not.

Sounds about right. Let’s means test the self employed so those that have saved up £16k + will get nothing whilst giving the employed a no questions asked 80%.

I’m almost certain now that there won’t be anything for me.
