Got called to this house today , all you see plus 2 other windows , was given the price that the last cleaner charged , it sounded a bit iffy to me , she isnt trying it on , shes ok , i do a few other houses for her already ,
How much do you think ?

Close , the price of the last cleaner was £22

I thought it a bit strange as the last wc's are a big company down here , and i just couldnt see them doing it for that ammount .

What do you reckon , should i take it on for the £22 ?

You don't say if you are using WFP or not. Sometimes windows that open that way can be a right pain with WFP as you can't close them if the customer is out. Also, with some windows of that type, they can be prone to running from the top section to the bottom section of the window as there may not be "drip" grooves (such as those usually found under windowsills). Also, how is the access to the balconies?
I was thinking around £35 but I'm in the southeast and prices may be generally a bit lower in the southwest. If they are troublesome windows, you could even justify £40. However, if she's as good a customer as you say, I'm sure it would be possible to discount a bit.

I would have said £40. Probably another £5 if she wants the glass porch doing both sides. What happened to the other wc's for £22? I bet they just stopped coming.

I'd only get away with charging £20 for that. Mind you if shes a good customer then usually they'll not mind paying a little extra to know you'll do a good job

The price of a pint in my local is £3.10

Honesly I would charge £40 at least round my way.

If I have to quote a big house, even if they don't have many windows I always say "for a house this big", and then they think you are complimenting their house, and think yes I do own a rather big house - They then warm to you and you can quote a higher price than normal

I probably am a bit more expensive than most, but if you can get it quote high!

I charge as a general rule of thumb £1 per window, £2 per double patio door and for conservatories £1 per 2 large panes. Then I might round up for a bigger property.
£30 would be right for me

Dont get me wrong , every window is easily reached , i can plonk the van right in front of the house and pull the hose right out to the left and then to the right and it will meet in the middle at the back , i reckon after 2 cleans its gonna be 30 minutes work , even with the porch thrown in for a bit of customer satisfaction , call me a push over but all the little extras make them feel a bit special , i have learnt to look after your people and they will keep paying your wages ...

Sorry Rich, but it's Monday,

If you know the customer well and already have a fair bit of work from her, you have had a good look at the job, you know what you're doing, you know how to park and all the obstacles, you know how long it's going to take you.......

Then why do you need to ask how much to charge?

If you want to know what other proffessionals try to quote as the going rate in their area, then ask that. Then we won't be questioning one another.
Then you can contribute and we'll all be happy!

HI Everyone

I would charge £40 for a monthly clean and £46 for a six weekly clean on that job and I would not accept a penny less. If she turns out to be a good customer, I would clean her porch every third clean for free.

Don't be under pricing yourselves, don’t forget, you do have other expenses van running costs, insurance, public liability insurance, tools to replace and your own wages.

I price per window and the pricing system is very close to an hourly rate I want. So if you want £30 an hour, charge £37, and then the £7 goes towards your overheads.

For me that is a £30 account, and I'd consider it very fair at that.
Having said that, after a couple of cleans you are goingto be knocking it out in no more than 30 minutes tops, so at £25 it is still good money.
But I wouldn't be seen dead doing it for that price off a ladder

The problem with these larger properties is that they are a walk in the park for WFP, but you have to keep the prices on a par with what you would charge if you were doing it trad.
Otherwise it is a slippery slope downwards in prices

WFP even if DIY is still a relatively substantial investment, and running costs are higher, drop your prices too low and you will end out earning no more than a trad cleaner...yet you'll have higher costs.

For what's it's worth, (which isn't much as I'm quoting my trad price) I'd say £20-25, as I could do that off a ladder in 45 mins or so.

Quicker for you, so that's plenty.

Id say 22 pound and a brew would do me, id take it for that its better than not having it. You could always add a bit more on 4 months down the line.
