Hope you`ll reply,thanks in advance.

just hold the hose at the bottom mate. use a strong pole hose and a little adapter i bought from scrimmy. and yes the brush will spin if you force it but it is absolutely fine in normal use you can see the adapter at www.wfpshop.co.uk its the only thing of any use he sells ;D

Why tho? Why not just use the clamps?

its quicker when doing lots of small jobs where you are constantly going from tops to bottoms over a day it will speed your day up, but yes nothing wrong with the clamps if that how you use them

You never know till you try scrimmy,

for others reading and wondering what is a harris pole. type in Water fed pole under £30 in you tube and watch my vid to make one (sorry vid quality is poor)., you would need to be mad not to have a backup pole and at less than £30 it makes sence to have it as a fail safe option till new pole arrives.

I think the harris pole is a great back up if needed have a couple sat in unit would keep me working if needed, I use slx daily tbh, I do use my harris for spraying chemical to soffits, gutters etc works a treat and nothing in the market for what I wanted so I made it. Thats another story/topic.

my last harris lasted a year great value for money :)

incidently it was dai that first suggested using the harris
for wfp and old hoggy and window washers were the first
to post useful vids about them.

for the money they are the best pole out there for
ground and first floor windows and i know they have a closed
length of over 6 ft but never caused me any problems on
ground floor windows.

before any one starts im not saying its the best pole ever ::)
but for the money you cant beat it :)

I havent lost any time using it and dont get what your getting at? I would go as far as saying its a better pole than all the xtels i used to use at £120 + a pop which would ware after a few months use and snap.

The harris pole would never snap. Im not a tight wad, ive got a £800 pole for goodness sake so its not about money pitching. But if somethings works this well...why spend more money.

The harris is ideal for your most average properties, and RWC, i challenge you to a race, with your lack of knowledge window cleaning il wipe the floor with you, with my harris pole  ;D :P ;D

You’ll be least a full month behind over the year if you race me on my round if you’re using the Harris pole.

Think about what RWC posted, using a 25ft CF pole that’s suitable for ground floor 1st & 2nd floor windows, how’s is the Harris pole going to keep up.

It’s your choice mate, no one is stopping you using the Harris pole, if it’s the ideal pole for your round, by that I mean if the Harris pole when closed is short enough for all your customers ground floor windows and able to reach all higher windows then good luck to you.

you do like to argue for sake of it dont you ;D ;D

just because something works for you isnt necessarily so
for some one else ,for ground and first floor i would like to
see you racing around with someone like scrimmy  or groundhog who use
their harris poles clampless cant get much quicker than that ;D

i  borrowed a slx for a couple of days and it did nothing but slow me down
it felt too fragile and i felt like i was going to crush it but im a
heavy handed bleeder and like alu poles which take the bashing
i give them.

i can understand using carbon for above 3rd floormakes sense
the higher you go but for below that...well you must be all delicate
flowers ;D ;D

I heard you can put a section 3 (?) of a harris pole on end, i have yet to do this...can anyone confirm this?

Would make the pole £30 ish (plus bruch etc) then daz, as the section is about £15 i think...maybe more now.
i have an xt-l no4 glassfibre section on mine, 3 is to small, 5 is def to big

And I still have the original in daily use.
It's horses for courses, I have a lot of houses all the same and close together on an open plan estate. I can't see how using a Harris costs me anything in lost time as I prefer to swap poles for the bottoms. Click off and click on, it's as quick as that, and using the short pole in restricted space saves me time.
All my poles are used with swivels [The Stanley paint pad conversion] and using them saves me loads of time. At least half the time I clean from side to side instead of up and down, a good swivel lets you do that with a flick of the wrist.

I have just made a butt plug for the SL2. I rolled up a piece of close celled foam sleeping mat into a cone, and wrapped some tape round it to hold it together. this fits every section from no2 up. Much better than messing around with those end caps, I've lost most of my caps anyway.
Don't forget you Harris users, the clamps can be made as good as new if you wrap a centimeter wide strip of plastic coke bottle round the clamp claws.

It was scrimmy that got me using it clampless, he demonstrated by tellin me to extend my pole and by the time i had then second clamp done up, his pole was up and ready to work ;) it was even quicker on the way down thats what convinced me that over the course of  day that would increase my turnover.

i also dont find it difficult for ground floor windows at all and a lot better than the one i was supplied with

do you mean the no 3 glass fibre is to small? then that may be true but an unger ali telepole it is the number 5 section fits perfect

...is a genious  ;D

My last one lasted 9 months or maybe more i cant really remember, and the only thing that went on it was the top clamp didnt tighter up enough, so down to b & q another £15, 5 mins with drill and saw and another one made up.

Whoever told us this i love you and am proposing we get married and live a happy life together on some desert island. Youve saved me £100's!

Lots of love,
Matt

It certainly does and the number 1 section fits perfectly into the top end of the Harris.

How much time do you think you lose each job/day using a Harris Pole, at least 3 minutes a day? Because you’re not going to convince CF users you don’t lose any time.

ewan...if i am doing height work and i do a LOT (HIGH level window cleaners) i would not consider anything but carbon fibre and if anyone tried to do 65 feet with a harris type pole then all they would hear from me is laughter and lots of it........however i can rest assure you that up to 17 feet  the harris pole beats ANY pole for speed.....i should know i have tried them ALL.

Im toying with making up a harris pole after what ww says ..it could be ideal for a back up etc if the slx is out of action.........after all it does get a bashing day in day out

………..And while he goes back to the van to get a pole that can reach the higher windows I finish (Do ground floor faster because the pole is a lot shorter than a Harris when collapsed)

ewan it really depends on the housing you do. if i know i will have to return to the van for a bigger pole then i would use that bigger on all the windows but when I am doing run of the mill domestic and commercial for that matter the harris wins for me, but i would agree with you if every house on my round needed a 24 footer but 95% of mine can be done with a harris
