Title: 4040 dribbling
Post by: bobbyboy on December 01, 2020, 01:42:19 pm
Hi all. I have a pure  freedom van system and good water pressure at home however I've noticed that recently it's taking forever to fill the tank. It's literally dribbling in. I've disconnected the pipe into the 4040 and there lots of pressure that end but very little coming out of the other end. What do we think?
blockage in the housing?

How much waste is coming out? Do you flush it regularly?

How old is it?

Fair amount coming out of the waste but no more than usual and  ye I flush it often. I have noticed water leaking from the pipes entering the housing which makes me think its a pressure issue.. . .

Not that then.

Leaks can't be helping.

Have you changed the pre filters? The sediment filter can cause quite a pressure loss.
My pre-filters got blocked once when the water board did some works and I didn't know about it to turn off my RO so loads of grit etc came through.

Cold weather slows them down but I would give it a good flush.

If you’ve had a lot of rain where you are the sediment level would be higher what someone said about the pre filters may be right if that’s the case.

Thanks for the replies guys. Pre filters were replaced same time as membrane. I've tightened all pipes so no more leaks. It really does seem that it's the membrane or housing, maybe I need to take it out and put it back in again. I'm stumped...

When you insert the 40” membrane you should hear it click or seat into the other end.

What 3 months ago? :o

I'm not saying that's your problem but they probably need changing unless you only use  a few litres a day.

Try taking the filters out of the pre filter containers  and then run it at least you’ll know then if it’s that.

Thought you were going to talk about a dodgy prostate valve. 😂

I've learnt in the past never buy cheap stuff off ebay or other sites as you end up paying another more in the long run ,also when it comes to membranes  and filters stick with reputable companies
