Agree with all comments.

Can i ask about sl2, i know what it is, i'm wondering if i might need one. haven't much high stuff, but i like lightness. Use 17'xtel mainly. How would sl2 be on downstairs?

SL2 on downstairs??? Nah,.. stick to a cheap pole for the low stuff!

Jonah,.. Take your time over getting setup and do it right. I'd recommend saving as much cash as possible and DIY'ing whatever you're able.

Think about what would suit your work best. I love my van mount,.. but some people find a backpack or trolley suits their work much better.

I have given this a lot of thought as very recently I picked up some work that used to be cleaned by a trad guy . . . sad to say he came off ladders and died !

Sorry to hear it,... but it is a very good reason to go WFP.

You could start with a very cheap backpack (£66 delivered off ebay) and a £15 painters pole from B&Q. See haw you get on, and if you do decide in the future that you want a vanmount, the backpack will still be an essential piece of kit.

Scimp on everything but the pole. If you haven't got high stuff then forget sl-2 and go for sl-x.

Trouble is for £3000 you'll struggle to get a half decent expert\dispatch.

My mate bought a expert for £3000 and it needed a new engine within a week.

agree with backpack

cleaning spot are doing a good deal on xtel poles at min

www.cleaningspot.co.uk/acatalog/special_offer.html

£60 odd quid, nice pole, i use it all day lng, collapses down to about 5ft, great for downs.

ive got a pug partner, which is great and the olders ones are cheap, but then they only got 2 seats. doh!

By about 15 times!

I had a  24ft x-tel, and I used it for one window (or tried to!)

Whips around, and bends like a banana.
Pretty heavy too. :-\

Traded it in for sl2.
Makes the job a doddle.

Wouldn't use it all the time though.
It'll wear out quickly if you do.

Just use it when you need the extra height.

Do you have a steady flow of work?

Can you afford to lease equipment and van. It's an alternative worth considering from a tax point.
