SUDS driveway
« on: October 18, 2014, 08:50:21 am »
Got a SUDS monoblock drive to clean, just wondering if there is any particular stone that i should use to resand with?

I know that they are very small aggregate, just wondering if it has to be a specific size/brand/type?

Cheers,

Matt

Try to find out who laid the drive (company) and what they used size wise to sand the joins with.
It'll save you having a headache later.

Cheers mate,

Not sure if ill be able to get that info.. but ive been doing a bit of reading. Seems 1mm - 4mm is about the norm for the permeable paving
Just have to find somewhere that sells it.. the normal sheds dont do anything smaller than a 6mm

Should be able to find something here ...http://www.susdrain.org/suds-directory/
Last one we did we went to a place that did resin bound driveways ...but we were really only "topping up" what we removed.

http://www.brettpaving.co.uk/commercial/aggregates/permeable-aggregates/
I'd contact Bretts to see if they have a deport up your way another one is Lafarge (think that's how it is spelt) I'm sure I have another suppliers details somewhere though.

Build base do it but maybe don't keep it in stock. Since they changed the planning laws permeable drives are becoming more common and they are selling more blocks and hence the aggregate. It actually says permeable drive aggregate on the bag.

Derbyshire aggregates do it and a place called long rake spar, they are both quarry mines near buxton.  The block you are referring to is called hydra pave matt.

Why?   Because it costs 35-50p M2 to seal it and save yourself £1000's in the future ;D

Chris

Get real!  Learn how to charge for work and how to sell it!!!  If it's 200M2 you simply say £200-250 to seal it with 20 years protection thats £1.25 a M2 ::)roll ::)roll ::)roll

I have just honed and sealed 4.5M2 of worktops in a kitchen for twice that price + VAT

How exactly (what method) do you use to spread 1 litre of sealer over 25 sqm (worst case scenario) of rough cast concrete ? Sprayer, paint brush ,paint pad ..what?
I have never used your product admittedly but to try and spread any liquid of that sort of area would be impossible.
If it was "polished" ( sorry don't know the correct term ) surface maybe.

Depends on how rough the stone is Chris  you can either use a Lambswool Applicator on a pole if it is as smooth as normal block pavors or one of these:

w.cleaningsupplies4u.com/product/wonderdry-sponge-mop-replacement-head/?gclid=CNKmgMa-u8ECFZQZtAodqhQAlQ

To save even more money you could apply this first

http://www.tilinglogistics.co.uk/Miracle-Sealants-Tile-Stone-Sealer?filter_name=miracle&page=2

Then use the 511 H20 or even 511 Porous Plus

The possibilities are endless ;D
