Use Gmail instead (www.gmail.com) - Much better than Yahoo!

Norton 360 secures your PC. Yahoo email is hosted by Yahoo and it's Yahoo's computers that have been affected not your own. Change your password and that will hopefully sort you out.

Use quality passwords, not any of this lot:

Lots of articles out there about how to choose a good password.

It happens with a lot of web based email accounts. Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, etc are all vulnerable to hacking. Usually (but not always) a good password prevents the account being hacked. eg Browntree!8762 is a a reasonably strong password as it has a capital letter, a non alphabetical character and a random number.

For starters Ronnie, Norton has got nothing to do with web based email accounts. Norton (not that it does) is meant to protect your pc, someone finding out your password for a web based email account wont help a jot in that respect.

Thanks Craig!

I'm going to use Browntree!8762 as my password.

Hi Ronnie, what has probably happened is a small programme has been sitting quietly on your pc, and is sending certain kinds of info back to it's "owner" passwords being one of the key things it looks for. The owner then either uses the info himself or sells it on to third parties for "marketing" purposes or out and out criminal acts.
As per previous mails, change your passwords pronto and think about swapping Norton for something else.

Ronnie, email me at info@oakleywindowcleaning.co.uk with your password, email address and the date you last logged on to it, I know a fella who works for microsft security who can tell you if your account has been hacked.

Norton is quite well respected so providing it's been kept up to date then it would have a detected any keylogging software. If there was a piece of keylogging software on Ronnie's PC then I doubt the recipients of the data will just hack his email account. More likely they'd clean out his bank account!

PS - if your password is just a word or two or even a name then it's shockingly easy to crack. I once cracked my own Windows login password in less than a second... It made me revamp my security big time!

I've had a similar thing with alarm codes and number locks on gates.  I don't have any current customers with the following so I will say that it astonishes me how many people seem to think that 1066 (Battle of Hastings - the last time England was successfully invaded) and 1966 (World Cup win) are unique.  Apart from that, I have encountered a number of occasions with numbers starting 19.  Presumably these are the birth years of someone or another and could be tracked if someone could be bothered.

Not doing so well lately are you?  ;D
Disappearing website, amongst other things, and now this.

It sounds like a fairly standard virus to me.  There is one that gets into Outlook Express and emails all the addresses in the address book.  It sounds to me like this is a variation on that.  Have you run an up to date virus checker?  Alternbatively,if you don't have a strong password, there is software that can make guesses at passwords and do it very quickly.

I got keycodes which are 1966 etc, had my account hacked last month and all my money spent on someone's xbox 360 gamer points, when I was round a mates house my name came up on his computer saying I'd logged in, thought my house had been burgled as I new no one was home, so we rushed home to see but everything was there, so we returned to mates house and sent a message to my account only to get a reply saying he'd bought my details off a Chinesse bloke, had to change passwords on everything, just waiting for my money to be returned.

This is NOT evidence that your email account has been hacked, its simply that you have probably opened a 3rd party email that contains a bot, its harvesting the names in your address book and sending them Viagra emails.

It is NOT sending them from your account, although it looks like it, we can all send emails that LOOK like they come from someone else, however they're not.

You can change your password Ronnie, if that doesn't work you may have to simply delete the account and reopen a new one, new email address unfortunately.

Norton being your anti-virus isn't the best. It is however the most common worldwide. Its notoriety as being the first big name anti-virus leads people into a false sense of security with it. It isn't as good as you might think, simply because a lot of peeps think it is good and hackers, viruses, harvesters, spam-bots etc aim to get themselves behind Nortons defense before any other anti-virus, which is why youve been compromised.

Good luck, your password doesnt work by the way  ;D
