Stephen,

I think it's a bit like carpet cleaning and any other one off type cleaning ( can be hit and miss), so don't go spending loads of money on advertising.
If your working anyway and can add it on to current advertising then it's no real cost. It just gives you another service that you can offer

We did 3 last year without advertising it as a specific service. This year i'm advertising that we do them, so who knows.

Alan,

With respect to your original question, start talking to your customers, both commercial and domestic and let them know that you are sorting out the rota for cleaning over the Christmas period and what cleaning do they require.

Most offices will be closed or running on skeleton staff and may required zero or reduced cleaning.

Some customers don't expect to see us at Xmas, others want extra cleans for people staying etc.

We only do domestic cleaning but we write to all our customers telling them what day we will clean for them during the holiday period. This provokes some responses, such as, 'we will be away' etc.

Our biggest problem is people who send us away at the door (despite getting a letter) usually because the kids are not out of bed - even in the afternoon.

We may close down for the first time ever during Xmas, but we know some customers will be upset.

And yes, pine needles are a pain in the ***.
