On the up grade side of things , are we really up grading if we only buy another porty
No I dont think so
its more of a side step really if we be honest with over selfs .
now a TM is an up grade

My maths may be wrong, but having Googled Hg - Water-lift comparison.
My Powr-Flite has more water lift than most truckmounts ( 17+ Hg). Granted the CFMs
don't compare at all well. But i can happily clean just about anything at 500 Psi, without
fear of over-wetting, and with quick drying times.
When i use my home made booster, i double the CFMs and have problems with the Wonderwand
locking to the carpet. So don't assume just any Truckmount is an upgrade.

Lift is not a crucial issue.  Cfm is of more interest.  As we all know ;)  heat is an important factor in easing the cleaning process and this is where a t/m helps.
At the end of the day what is our portable or truckmount doing? Rinse extracting the dirt, but oh, how many more square meters of carpet can you rinse extract with a t/m compared to a porty.
Then again, if you don't have many square meters to extract on a daily basis, why upgrade to a t/m

CFM and lift is only the vacuum power what about the 'cleaning' ie the water flow? I have 5.5 gallons a min on my TM some porties only do a gallon so how much is really being rinsed? the vac should be linear to water put down.

You are correct Shaun. Flow rate is important. The more you flush, the more dirt you will extract. A porty can flush as much as a t/m but you will have to spend 3 times as long doing it.  Hence the t/m advantage for high area carpet cleaners

I think you should check your source for comparison on the mercury/water inches lift thing.  Powerflight's website rates their top spec range at 150 or 160" water lift depending on which page you believe, from 2 x 2stage vacs.  The conversion chart I used puts 150" water lift @ 11.0"Hg and 160" water lift @ 11.8"Hg.

As far as I'm aware, there are no extractors working at 17"Hg. Portys would collapse their tanks and T/M's would need more than a glide to stop lockdown.

Safe and happy cleaning :)

Shaun are you using 5.5 gals a minute, or is that your theoretical maximum.
What pressure do you clean carpets at, because i often read truckmount owners
saying they clean at 2 - 250 Psi.

Powrflites website quotes for 2 x 2 stage. NOT the 2 x 3 stage HD vacuums, on
the pfx 1350 ph which produce 240" lift.

Amtech quotes 220" water lift.

Working on Amtechs figures of 220" lift, and using the formula
Hydramaster use, this gives 16.29 Hg ' 101 CFMs, which puts it nicely
on the graph line. The line demonstrates well that either vac optimised or air
optimised, work as well as each other, as long as they are balanced to produce
optimum results.

Would assume the flow rate, be it 5.5 galls per minute or whatever depends solely on the pump parameters.  Whether you squirt it through 6 or 2 jets should not effect that figure

My suspicion is that Amtech have made an error and published cfm  figures instead of lift. Looking at the US manufacturers Powerflight spec sheet for their different US models  http://www.powr-flite.com/istore/machinepdfs/PFX1300.pdf  you will see more realistic figures although they may be marginally different for 110 volts, but not by much. As you correctly stated, Powerflight use 2 x 2 stage vacs as I originally stated.

You're right about 6 or 2 jets but I meant that you have to look at what water is getting to the wand but also at what is coming out, 6 x 11015 is 0.9 where as most porties won't even do 2 x 0.3 and that's flow without getting into psi.

This is what i based mine on,

http://www.steam-brite.com/store/universal-vacuum-booster-p-4832.html

Mines not quite so elegant looking, but i'm thinking of making a seperate box
with 2 x 3 stage, and a short hose to connect to the machine.
The beauty of it is i can convert my machine from 2 x 3 stage vac' optimised.
To 2 x 3 stage air optimised in about 2 min's. Also great if a vac' motor goes down on you,
just finish the job only minimal down time.

Just spoke to someone from Steambrite they said the vac inside the booster would have to be changed to 230volts i asked how much extra that would cost he went away and came back with 2 options it would be an extra $200 to change or they could just sell the booster without a vac in it and fit a 5.7 vac yourself and that would $200 less than the list price.I asked if it was easy to fit the vac yourself and the guy said he didnt no hes never fitted one.

Wonder wands are fantastic as far as i'm concerned.
Carpets dry very quickly, and i rarely use drying strokes.
To demonstrate to customers i run over a patch at 500 Psi, with no drying
stroke, and kneel down immediatley, no wet patches on knees.
If there was an auto fill and auto dump to go with the Powrflite, i think you
would have a great machine for commercial work. Each year i do 3 schools for
Worcestershire council, and wish i could run at 500Psi continually. Unfortunatly
at this pressure i'd be re-filling every 20 Min's.

Dont think much of these Perfect Heat Coils was using my Powerflight yesterday and must of knocked the plug out for the heater carried on without the heater to see how good the perfect heat coils were the water wasnt even look warm with the heater of but with the heater on it even beats my Raptor for heat and that was some machine for heat.

If your just using the coils, as with the heater you have to hold the trigger for a while to bring the heat up through the pipe to the trigger.  I think the coils are supposed to heat the water to 30 degrees which might seem cold but its warmer than normal water temperature.

You tryed to take the micheal by desception and could have got this info from anyone on here.

Your prices should be your prices, it does not matter what anyone else does near you.  As they charge dpending on experience and the amount of work they have or want.
From your previous posts I would think that you should get yourself on a training course and you will get all the info and knowledge you will need to move forward without the need for deception.
