Title: Blutack
Post by: Lawrence1973 on July 27, 2019, 09:59:22 pm
Got a nursery clean next week with a serious  amount of inground blutac and plasticine and crayon in the main.

Has anyone got any suggestions on chemicals method for this?

Get low odour white spirit and a one litre spray bottle from the likes of B&q  ,  spray on and scrape  at it gently with a craft knife or scraper , extract with your handtool and a bit of detergent in the tank , repeat as necessary .

If its on carpet tile be careful with liquid solvents as carpet tiles can often be bitumen backed and it can melt the backing. Citrus gel from prochem is a good product to use for this as it stays on the surface and does not penetrate the backing. Another good tool to use in conjunction is a steam cleaner. You can use it to soften it before applying the citrus gel.

I been trying d-bond (Selden) it's ok if the blutac is fresh...battling with the older solidified pieces. Steam has been a great shout....thanks.

cant say i tried that product ,  contains some sort of alcohol solvent .
Blu tac responds best to a mineral solvent  ...  blu tac even suggests lighter fluid  ...    lighter fluid , naptha , white spirit , pertol ...all the same family will work
