Marmoleum floor sealed over dirt.
« on: October 28, 2015, 06:48:54 pm »
I came across a floor today that had been polished over multiple times without ever been cleaned. I am thinking after a test patch it has been sealed also. I would even go as far as to say it was been sealed polished and sealed and polished again without ever been stripped. Stripper with spp  and black pads would not even touch it. Never seen the likes of it before. First job I have ever walked away from.  Has anyone came across this and successfully restored the floor before.

Sorry Kevin for the delay...an spp pad is brown I used Jangro stripper...once the marmoleum started to bleed I stopped as the dirt was still beneath many layers

Hi William, just to share we have an excellent sealer for marmoleum or any vct flooring, its called Nano-Powershine and once its applied to any vct floor you never again have to strip the flloor, any facility manager will be delighted with all the features and benefits that this technology carries.
If you would like more information just let me know.  Tadgh

Hi tadgh,

I have heard great thing about the Powershine and was impressed when I used it. I have nothing but praise for all the products in your range that I have tried.  is it designed for marmoleum or vct only. Can it be stripped if needs be?

Hi William, Nano-Powershine was developed specifically for vinyl composition tile (VCT)  or basically its recommended for use on any vinyl type floor tiles or any vinyl type sheet flooring which would include Marmoleum,  the main features and benefits are once its applied to any vct type flooring there is never a need to strip the floor again.
With conventional vinyl floor polishes they need to be stripped and reapplied every few months depending on foot traffic which can be time consuming and i think most guys know how damaging floor strippers can be to vct type floors from continuous use. This is where Nano-Powershine comes into its own as you never need to strip it off once applied, instead when required depending on foot traffic again you just need to deep clean the vct floor and leave to dry, then just apply one coat of Nano-Powershine to rejuvenate the floor again, Nano-Powershine will dry completely within 5 to 7 minutes depending on conditions if you need to apply a second coating to achieve a higher quality finish.
Can it be stripped yes it can, but because it is very hardwearing and durable there should never be a reason for Nano-Powershine to be stripped from any type vct flooring.  regards Tadgh

So its 1.2 0 per sqm to do 3 coats.
Not bad, many commercial customers must be happy as not to bad for initial treatment and cheaper in futher as no stripping.
Will keep it in mind Tagh if I ever be asked to do such a work.

Why to you need to buff it between coats and does it cover the marks after green pad?

Hi Radek, you don't really have to buff between coats its better to let it cure for 24 hours and then burnish the coating with a high speed polishing machine which will compact and increase the hardness of the coating while also increasing the gloss effect, it is a great product for covering many different types of marks and light surface scratches.  Tadgh

Can you name any places in Cork (with free access), with your coating on the floor, just to have a look  while in the area.
