im from carpet side ,i do hard floors as well,asked to do a tile and grout job onthe walls,i normally just do the floors,
i was gonna clean the grouting by hand with grout brush and chemical called viper which works great,,i obviously cant use my rotary to scrub!is it worth getting one of those rotary hand tools?if so where can i get one or do you think it will come up alright by hand
bathroom has the usual blacking ,but not that that bad

I would go by hand depending on the size of area.

Using a hand rotary can get messy we have three machines that can do walls one is this one which we use for general cleans and polishing which we have adapted to get brushes on.

Another one we have just a polishing machine that we have diamonds for obviously to deal with stone

So it all comes down to exactly how much you want to do with the machine and then of course how much you want to spend.....

Tony The machines you have mentioned are a bit overkill dont you think, the guy didnt even mention what type of Tiles he is cleaning, I would think this question needs answering first.
I have never used a hand held rotary for ceramic and porcealin tiles in a wetroom/ bathroom, try Tile Doctor Oxy-pro, spray it on scrub it in, clean the grout with it and rinse with water straight afterwards, you can keep the costs down for these sort of Tiles.
If the guy has a Polsihed Stone then I wouldnt recomend he touched it unless he has had some Training first or he could get into all sorts of trouble.

p.s If the grout doesnt clean up well then grout colouring would be the right option.

Our machines aren't overkill at all!  Tony was just trying to enlighten a Forum Member what is available in the professional range!  If we didn't use them I wouldn't have bought them

thanks everyone,i clean terrazzo floors etc ,there are a lot of staircases involved so i need a hand tool for a wide range of jobs ,walls,even upholstery,thought a minitex machine might be a good allrounder?

Just think you should have simplified it for the member.
 When I do wetrooms, shower cubicles etc its the grout that needs the attention, the tiles if they are ceramic or porcelain need very little cleaning, a power tool is complete overkill and it wont touch the grout < unless its flush > using a spray on Alkaline cleaner works well for me most of the time, scrub it , anyone who has  a Hybrid Power washer hand held or similar will get a result as well, < keep the psi down a bit though >
Rinse with water and dry with a heat gun, then re-seal when its fully dry, if you  havent got a power tool dont sweat it use a Nail brush instead for the grout.
If the grout doesnt clean to well < and some dont > then try a grout colourant instead of sealing it.

I will simplify it for you!  Yes your ideas and methods are Fine for domestic situations  and ceramics and some porcelains!  Tony was talking about large Domestic and commercial properties.  Believe me there is a machine that grinds, polishes and cleans walls including grout if required.

Yes I agree with you there Kevin, I suppose the guy never said if it was a domestic or Commercial situation, that the issue I had with What Tony had to say.
As a matter of interest though Martin on a commercial job, I find that if it is ceramic or grout it is the same quality generally that is used in domestic situations <putting  epoxy grout aside > which machine would you recomend for a commercial job which wont blast the grout out or damage the face of a ceramic Tile.
