POLED UP AT LAST
« on: October 10, 2006, 01:46:04 pm »
Well,

I have just drove all the way to the east coast and back to collect a pole i bought (3 months old)...

the guy said he was the only one around using wfp, so he thought it would be successful!...

he said he had had enough , as he had lost 25% of his customers,

what a think to say to me just starting out lol. :o...

anyway i need it around here... its 40ft with quick relaease sections.. and all the pipes... and a brush.

just wondered how many of you guys lost calls when you first started using wfp?

Gary.

Gazza,

40 foot is a big pole!  I don't want to sound negative, but I don't think it's going to be of much use to you; for a while at least.

You can use this pole to clean lower than 40 foot, but it's going to be heavy and you're going to get tired of using it.

Also, for the price you paid, I could've recommended something far, far better that would've suited you from ground floor work, to fourth story work (40 foot).

I think you should've asked here first, before purchasing.

Tosh thanks for that,

i thought that myself,
but could you let me know about the other poles.. you could email me.... i may resell this.. its a cracking pole but i think it would suit commercial guys more at the mo...

i was getting so many different sorts of help and ideas.... which i am grateful for,... but also confused now.

I lost 3 when i 1st started wfp, dropped a few more 'cos the jobs weren't suitable for wfp, but i've picked up lots more since.
I did get several complaints between weeks 3 and 6 as well.

I have only come across 1 window that i cannot get to with a pole or ladder. I can now clean over conservatory roofs and garages and is worth a couple of pounds extra on even my smallest jobs.

I've got to admit that it did knock my confidence a little getting complaints, but slowing down a bit stopped all that.

cheers mark,

did you also get extra work because you actually said / advertised you could reach awkward windows etc.... and did you get funny looks whilst stood in the garden with long pole ;D

and feel daft... cos i did today a bit... on my own house ! :o

I have 1 advert in a parish magazine which does advertise i can reach windows upto 40 feet and do dormers and above conservatories etc.
I have only had 1 job specifically because of a window that could be got at with a ladder but i couldn't safely do it with wfp either.

Yes, the shurflo backpack is fine to use at this height, probably higher; but I've not used it higher than third story (2nd Floor) work.
