2 man set up.
« on: October 21, 2020, 12:11:50 pm »
Can anyone help with setting up a 2 man set up.    2 reels  , 2 pumps . 2 batteries.     i have these  from a previous setup.    any pics showing main connections  from water tank.      i can do the rest with hoses etc.        im just looking at what will be the best fitting to put on that will turn one outlet off when not using.     may be only used 1/2 day week     Maybe a Y piece ,

If you use a Y piece you could fit valves so when you are using it as a 1 man just block the other side off with that sides valve, obviously valves after Y piece that’s what I’d do.

We use John Guest 1/2" fittings, taps & tubing on our two man setups.

I don't see why you need to turn one outlet off though if using stop ends of some sort on your hoses, unless your using external van ports?

I was just thinking that if you left one open you may get an air problem maybe not.

ill look into a heavy duty brass Y  piece with taps built on.  one reel will only be used 1 or 2 days .     if like the Swivel Elbow on reels   im sick of replacing these.      Sometimes you may be lucky and get no leaks

You want the large stainless steel ones like the ones Grippa use on the systems they supply,I know you can get these Y fittings in stainless steel I have seen them advertised.

The stainless steel fittings pictured above are known as NITO fittings. Use to use them but switched over to John Guest fittings.

Those 2 fittings are the best for any system imo the stainless for the hose reel and the John Guest for the system itself,I really can’t understand why people use other rubbish like hose lock etc complete rubbish leak like billyo.

Gardiners used to sell John Guest 1/2” fittings & tubing but I don’t think they do now. Google it. Just don’t get it mixed up with 15mm John Guest Speed fit. They’re not interchangeable. It’s the grey coloured 1/2” you want, not the white. The tubing itself comes in various colours. I have clear so you can see any air bubbles. Then a JG stem to barb with stainless jubilee clip for final run of clear hose  to the reels. They do all types of fittings & taps.
