Title: Pocket George
Post by: combat1 on November 17, 2017, 07:49:40 pm
Changed my laptop to an HP a while back. 64 bit.
Not been able to get Pocket George to work.
Really miss it, I found it great.
Do any of you manage to run PG on Windows 10?

I'm in the same boat. Interesting post by LBWCS.

I asked this question recently and some says there is no problem. Its just finding the right drivers.

Thanks both, it does seem to get very difficult.
I did buy an hp stream tablet ages ago with this in mind.
I have downloaded George trial and data restore.
Then emailed by backup over.
So on both at the moment, I now have to decide which one to use as the text on the tablet is pretty small.
And before anyone suggests other software! I have used George for years, love it and wouldn’t change.

You should be able to increase text size with settings.

thanks Spruce, did try that but George just stays the same. Going to stick with the laptop and printing off a work list.

I've spent much of the last week migrating from Windows XP to Windows 10. I choose to load the 32 bit OS rather than 64 bit.
I loaded George to Windows 10 and like you was unable to setup the PDA.

Paul Saunders of George Systems kindly reminded me that there are now drivers available for 64 bit Palm but they also work on 32 bit.

I loaded Palm 6.2.2 software.

Then I loaded these drivers.

When I downloaded Palm config from the George Systems site my PDA is now updating.

So I'm back to Pocket George. Happy.

buy a cheap linx 10 for £50 and run the FULL version of George on it. I keep mine in the van when Im working so I have all details to hand and can swap work if the day gets messed up. Back the data file with dropbox and when you get home restore it on you HP Laptop. Simples!

I honestly didn't know what to do as there are 2 of us. At one time we worked separately so had our own pda's and vans. We now work together most of the time. I had even thought of running a laptop in the van but if its anything like the wife's, it takes 10 minutes to boot up with Windows 7.

I wasn't sure about a Windows tablet as we have heard that some have had issues with George on one.

The root of the problem is that we aren't computer literate so everything becomes a chew on. I've been running XP for years but it really needed a clean reinstall as the one has so many registry issues, probably because we ran IObit as a maintenance program.
