The window cleaners in our local shopping centre are always out about 5am.
I don't know why they start so early but they alway have done since way back.

A lot of cleaners in central London start very early before the traffic builds up.
Also the yellow lines come into force at 6.30am and the wardens will get you after that. There is no exemption for anybody, least of all window cleaners.

Early starts are fine on commercial jobs, gets them out of the way before the 'rush'.What I find galling, is seeing window cleaners on residential rounds at 7 am! I wouldn't dream of being so rude and discourteous to people, what do lot think?

I agree, do have a couple of customers who want it at 8.00 a.m.
The law here is 8.00a.m.

Out here in commuter land you do get the occasional customer who wants you to do their windows early before they go out to work. On my leaflets I used to put
"early mornings by arrangement" and it was taken up by a few people.

I always start at 8am in the Summer, then go onto a 9am start for the Winter, though by start, I mean go to the office and do some paperwork first, so actually get onto the glass about half an hour after that.

;DI always start work at 8am no matter what type of work I do.Because I do my work evry 4 weeks my customers know roughly what time I'm going to turn up and what day.Customers do get used to early starts, and I would definetly not start later in the winter what with it getting darker earlier.

I know what you're saying, but I only do about 5 hours a day to make my money as far as cleaning glass goes (I build and do property maintenance as well, and have my fingers in a few other pies also). So instead of finishing at 2, I work 'til 3. This is simply making use of the warmest part of the day....I'm a bit of a wimp really I suppose... :D
