I did the washing and didnt take out pen from pocket, folded up trousers put them on the carpet I now have ink on carpet and trousers.

I have tried vanish and its having none of it.

This stain is now likely to be permanent, it may be worth trying to find a local cc on here to come and have a look.

Permanent is not an option it is only the size of a 2 pence piece

The vanish may have knackered it but if you cant get hold of a local carpet cleaner try surgical spirit or methylated spirit and blot  do not rub do not over apply.

If its a light carpet then sodium metabisulphate will do the job

From Prochems guide:

Ink (Ball Point)
Apply Solvex and blot and note if ink is readily
released. If so, this indicates a solvent soluble
dye. Repeat as needed. Blot, do not rub, to avoid spreading spot. If stain
persists, apply Citrus Gel (or Stain Pro for water-based inks). Rinse
thoroughly with water and blot until dry. Note:All inks are not the same
and different approaches may have to be evaluated.

Hi mate,
The was something called Quick Dryer back in the old shampooing days, used to get pen out. Try your local janitoral suppliers.

Been toying around with a permanent marker on a Berber and an 80/20 with Craftex multisolv ph is a bit high but it worked, (and it cheap £8.58 5lts) didn’t on a terry towel will try Prochem tomorrow.
