Hi All,
I have the chance of a very cheap and small road sweeper the problem is where and how do I get work for it, have any you guys tried this.
-
The market here is undercroft car parks.
Go in offering a clean up to the stairwells, pressure washing and then pressure washing to corners out and then sweeping up.
I see this as an issue all of the time.
Anywhere a larger sweeper wont go is your market - internals in factories etc

Out of all our services I find this is one of the hardest to 'sell' to customers. Type / drive of sweeper obviously determines its use exterior / interior or both, What model sweeper is it ?

Hi,
The road sweeper is a Schmidt swingo compact, I have a wheelie bin cleaning business and I just want to expand the business in a different area of cleaning.
-
Jaymac, what sweeper is it?
'very cheap and small road sweeper'
Define cheap.
If it's one like this, it'll be good enough to pick up litter.

What an how do I charge for the service hourly, half day, just a daily rate and how much do I charge. I am looking at car parks but how do I find out who owns or runs them, I am also think of contacting local council to see if they would use the service when there busy.

You can get between £35 and £45 per hour all day long for them mate, plus travel. If you got a job in Glasgow for it, you'll be using the A roads bumping up your travel.
Major thing to look for when buying is the roof. Not sure about these models but coming from my bro in law the roofs rot and affect the suction etc.
My bro in law has a sweeper firm http://www.charltonsweepers.co.uk/
He gets calls every week for precinct sweepers but has never wanted one.

Schmidt used to do a sweeper very similar to that with a diesel golf engine in, the radiator was in the very back and got filled with dust which overheated the engine. We only had the one and can remember fitting several new engines - they went to small Johnstons. The water tanks were mild and rotted out. Check the rad cap for rim cheese when you look at it

Hi, I could possibly have the pick of road sweepers as there is few different makes, they vary in age from 2006 2009 not sure of the makes and models but the the one I was looking at was a Schmidt swingo are they any good or is there better out there.
-
I've no idea about modern ones as I've been out of that game for a while now.
-
Just about to buy the Schmidt swingo road sweeper lets hope I can get the work for it I will keep u all posted.
-
Great idea that. But would want more than £50 an hour for the expense.
-
Don't think I will get 50 quid an hour I think a bit less but I sure will test the water for the higher hourly rate. Any info to get the new business of the ground would be very helpful.
