Pressure washer; honda gx90 13hp engine, 15lts/min 3500psi cost around £1100, with a reduction gearbox it will cost an extra £200.......don't think you can start cheap and buy a smaller one, it just won't do the job.

turbo lance £120.

40m high pressure solution line.

I've just started doing this using an electric Stihl pressure washer and have had some good results.
Done 5 jobs with it so far and no complaints.
It's quite therapeutic too.
If enough work starts coming in might go down Mike's route of being self contained but for a start up my electric one is more than adequate.

You could get away with an electric PW, but you wont be able to make any decent money; it will take you too long to clean things.

Also, you have to use the custys electric, which limits you.

440L @ 1650psi average coverage so far has been 23 sq m an hour.
This as all been on patio flagging though, haven't done any block paving with it yet.
I find it more than adequate so far and evryone has been more than happy with the results.
Don't think I'd want much higher psi at the moment, not sure what sort of problems higher psi might bring up.
As for using peoples electric it's the first thing they ask me as in  "I won't be home when you call so I'll leave
the garage door unlocked so you can get to the electric socket"
They seem to expect that it will be electric.
As an add on to the cc it's very lucrative.

If its working our for you, great.

But if you had any larger jobs you would suffer.

The machine Mike suggested is a pro kit which is what you need if you plan on getting quite a few jobs. If it is just the odd PW job, every couple of months then you might be better with a cheaper one.

Any really big jobs and I know where I can hire a 3000psi machine.
What do you reckon the sq m per hour would be for one of those.
It weighs quite a bit too I've been to shop to look at one.

There have been some right cowboys working round our area doing pressure washing using a Halfords £99.99 type PW.

I'm not a PW but I get enquiries from time to time and I have thought about it but my window cleaning is full on all the time now and I wouldn't be able to do it justice.

I do believe though that if a jobs worth doing its worth doing well and proper kit is essencial.

Having seen some of the work produced by the cowboys............

Vince,
If it helps we work in your part of Middlesex and could always look at your clients cleaning needs.
Have a look at our web-site and you will see the quality of work we do as to the "cowboys"

Hello Roger,

Followed the link to your website and was very impressed with the results you obtain, clearly you offer a professional service.
I am intrigued to see that on one page you indicate that black lichen was removed. I find this the most problematic area and would be most interested to know how you get rid of it. At present I inform customers it will not go.

Regards

Nigel

Adam,
If you click on this link, and click on the "Hot & Mighty" logo, you will see the machine we use.
www.rapressurewashing.co.uk/about.asp

We imported the first Hot & Mighty trailer set-up in the UK last year.

Some of the jobs have been done using a Tech-Clean set-up.
Here is their site. www.tech-clean.co.uk
Great bit of kit and ideal for entry level.

Mark,
Machine is very good, have had a couple of issues with the generator, had 2 new ones sent over as they were warranty issues.
In all it is a great package. They are now doing a much smaller version, which is basically engine/pump, burner and smaller holding tank but they don't have any info or photos on their site unfortunatly.
