An alternative trolley system; what do you think of this?

I found this link in an old post of Jeff Brimble's in another forum.

What do you lot think for use as with a water fed pole?

I think it costs $300 (so around £200 plus around £50 to £70 postage; I guess) for the heavy duty wheeled version.

It reminds me of Andrew McCann's set up; though not as smart looking and you'd have to fill it up, rather than just change the barrel over.

It holds 5 US Gallons, so around 25 litres and weighs around 14 kg without water.

Looks pretty good to me Tosh, I just bought the shurflo back pack off ebay but i see that one you mentioned has up to 95 psi form the pump thats way more than the shurflow.
I got to agree Andrew McCann's trolley looks better but it costs way more than you could set yourself up for using one of these.

i looked into them last year

you would need a 2nd battery, even a 3rd if you are going to do a good FULL DAY

BUt when i worked it all out, 200 odd quid for the item, 50 for postage, then import tax, your about 300 quid ish

the same as a Sack truck, pump (in a box or not) and a battery

Yes sure, in the words of oasis, some may say, it looks better, BUT does the domestic homeowner care what it looks like ?? ?? ?? ?? as most know, i dont think they do *cue the abuse* my system looks better than yours, its more professional :

Yep. looks fine to me, not a bad looking setup....not sure about the battery though??

Wonder how many amp hours it is??

Be interesting to hear from someone who has actually had one and converted it for use as a WFP.

perhaps a good alternative to getting shurflo backpack....

the 1 gallon extra capacity might prove useful, no need to buy trolley, more powerful pump.

the battery is the same as the shurflo backpack, 12v 7a

Got to go with Mat on this one. Aluminium sack truck, pump, battery. All for under £160.
For this you get inflatable tyres and a truck built to carry over 250kgs. DAI

Looks like not a bad piece of kit to me.

Kind of what you talked about a little while ago about a Trolley/backpack Tosh so I can see why you like the idea.

As to it being heavy duty.... I wouldnt bet on it. I know what abuse my trolley gets and I know which will stand the test of time. The battery size would concern me as well but.. if it DOES last a full day then not too bad. Yes you will have to refill it as well which I wouldn't want to have to do but if you are used to having to do that then its fine. I would also want pneumatic tyres on it because of the way they dont leave marks in lawns etc and absorb impact when going up and down steps for instance.

Having said all that it looks the part and has to be better all round than just a backpack on a sacktruck. If I were considering a backpack I would definately go for this instead. I still wuvs me trolley though

i have used a 17 amp jump start thingy

though i now use a 7 amp battery, well i use 2 in a days work, change at lunch time (or after 50 - 75 L's of water)
If i do a comercail job early in the morning, i use 3 Batteries, but thats not a problem

the pump i use isnt as big as the shurflo , thus it doesnt drain the power, BUT its man enough to move the water to 10 - 11 M's high (ground, 1st and 2nd floor)

Pump Goes up 65ft Ok using 1/4" hose.

Andy. Just to let you know, the trolley is working a treat, and yes i have overturned the trolley once or twice(already) and bar a few chips on the paintwork(gutted) it bounces back for more, no probs. Sturdy as they come. I've learnt soo much since we chatted on the blower mate. Cant believe i was soo naive a few weeks back, but there's nothing like being In at the deep end for learning bout wfp. Done the shurflo backpack,250l container in van. Hosereels bla bla bla.........I think i've commited myself

built a very simple trolley system using a £20.00 sack truck, shurflo pump, leisure battery(£40.00) that lasts all day with 25ltr drums. works a treat. can advise anyone if interested
