Do we need to separate Trad and WFP on this forum
« on: September 19, 2006, 12:15:11 am »
I think so for the benifit of both.

The only problem I can think of is how about people like me who use both.

I would have set up a pole but I don't know how to.

Cheers

Is there a vote on this?

Yes

at least then I would not have to read a lot of hype all the time!

Maybe a sepeate section for Trad.....
Would make it easier to moderate, then any mention of WFP in threads (unless it is to point out that perhaps the only way of doing a particular job to a newbie is WFP) could be deleted.
You could cut out the endless hijacking of threads into WFP v Trad then.

On the open section things would continue as before, it might be a pain sometimes, but these debates are needed.

I agree with Ian,

It would stop all the rattles being thrown out of prams every day over which method is best etc...

As a newbie here I would prefer the clarity that seperate forum area's may provide.

Thanks
Dave.

Hi Guys
If you have separate sections on the forum it will result in less people
posting. If you don't believe me look at the forums on cleaning pros
and professional window cleaner they are dead.

In my opinion this is because they have so many different sections.

All the arguments and disagreement's (and good advise) about all the
different ways of window cleaning are what makes this forum so interesting.

I agree with D. Wood's post.

No don't separate.

True, it sometimes brings out the worst, but often brings out the best, a couple of recent threads testify to the latter.  Some give clearer responses under pressure.

If you have seperate forums then I will read only the one that applies to me, and that is traditional, but in the past I have helped countless guy's on here with regards to there batteries, battery chargers, split charge relays and electrical side of there pumps.
were all window cleaners but just use different tools for our trade............ So I vote NO!

After reading D wood's observation I've changed my mind!

Mind you.....I like the idea of making Squeaky a moderator on a trad section...Judging from the replies on this thread it doesn't seem as if he would have much to do though! ;)

Hello,

In some other posts i had actually suggested seperating the trad and WFP but after giving it more thought, i don't think that you should.

It was mainly due to all of the arguing that you have to read through but what is more important is that nearly ALL of the WFP guys have a wealth of experience with trad and there are many people (like myself) that find their help of great benefit. (i'm trad)

I think the forum should stay as one as it keeps it alive and theres always plenty to read about.  If it was to split up it would just be a case of them and us.
At the end of the day we are all just doing the same job but with different methords and tools its split up on the other forum and nothing ever happens over there but if it is split up definately Squeaky for mod on trad 8)

I think it should be all under the same roof as each person has their own experiences and knowledge to share which is why this forum is so valuable to us all.

As for Squeaky being a mod, not a chance, it would mean having to bite your lip when really you want to get stuck in and have the odd argument. Joy's of being a mod  ;D

Best wishes,

Sorry i vote no. In my oppinion the two go together. Cant see how anyone can do wfp without trad, my view.

Another main reason it would not be the same with out Squeaky  ::).
