I currently use an iPhone 4s and mobile aworka but after the last IOs update I am only getting 5 hours battery life.
(a known problem to Apple, who are working on a fix)

So who rates what phone
Many thanks

I've got the s4 mini as had the s3 and kept dropping it so wanted something smaller, yeah I prefer it, like I said I was always a iPhone person and never thought I'd change but Samsung is better in my opinion as iPhone don't seem to ever change much as I believe they know they will always sell.

I've got the iPhone 4s to... I haven't upgraded to the latest software release yet though because I read about battery life problems.

I'm free to upgrade in a month or so, but don't think I will just yet as there is nothing out there at the moment that does that much more than the iPhone 4s... Will probably wait for the 6s to come out  ;)

Run it completely flat a couple of times and re-charge so that the battery is put through a couple of complete cycles. Apparently the update affects the powering monitoring software causing it to think the battery is more discharged than it actually is - two cycles on my 4S resolved the problem.

That is NOT a fact, that is your opinion.

My opinion is that ios is effing terrible and that certain andriod phones now surpass iphones in almost every measurable way. Again not a fact but my opinion (albeit an opinion shared by most credible tech reviewers).

If they are the best selling phones then surely they must classed as the best?

Im not really bothered i was just giving mine and a few billion peoples opinion, samsung, sony, Nokia etc have been left behind. However phones always come back around with something new in years to come so Apple might then get left behind... (Not likely)

Android has about 70% of the market compared to 20% for Apple. In 2013 Samsung had 27% market share to Apples 7%. You are talking from somewhere dark and smelly.

Them statistics are irrelevant because androids tend to be a lot cheaper per month therefore a lot of people would chose them for price not for the phone.

People who dont like iPhones usually are to tight to pay for the best phones or they want to walk around looking like a tool with a tablet pc strapped to their ear ;D

I personally only gave my opinion.
Out of my close mates i dont know anyone who has any other phone except Apple.

i had an s3 for a year , i actually paid 350 to get out of contract because i hated the phone so much.

laggy , fragile , random slowdowns , switching off .

the only thing i liked was the texting that remembers texts that you have written before so you can just keep clicking on the middle word and write the text in seconds - thats the only bit i miss though .

Indeed.  One of the things Apple has patented is having rounded corners on their phones.  No wonder Apple phones are better; only a company as inspired as Apple could think of rounded corners.

The S3 was indeed pretty terrible. However there is a massive choice on android handsets from £500+ for an HTC one M8 (still the best phone ever made) all the way down to £50 for an entry level phone.

Apple give you a choice. Hideous playtime colours for toddlers, black, white or gold.

The iPhone is uncool - it is bought my middle aged, borderline baffled technophobes who just need something that works and is preferably always the same as the owners react badly to change.
The young, cool and hip people have Android because there are about a million options for each setting and therefore no two phones are the same.
I have an iPhone and when it finally needs replacing I will have another one for the reason stated above.

I've had iPhones since the launch of the 3G iPhone, I think they're getting worse if anything, the phones digitiser on the 5S is not as accurate and battery performance on the 5 that my Mrs has is now terrible.

On a separate note how well does Aworka work when there isn't a cell tower signal or a poor signal?

read the comparison sites...? where millions of people who refuse to pay the money for iphones say how good their Samsung are and how they have lots of memory and can do more than a iPhone can blah blah blah!

Apple is the latest onto the market and keeps getting better and better, however the only downside is stated is the battery life. I am 21 and constantly using Facebook and the internet yet i manage ok so most other people should.

may i also add that the Iphone 5S with the 4g internet is actually faster than my virgin media!!

the young certainly don't go for androids they go for iphones! im 21 and almost every one of my mates has iphones, and im not just saying that.

Hmmmm not sure if the S5 was the best choice especially if reliability is what you are after. Sumsung's build quality tends to be pretty poor compared to say, HTC or Sony. Also being brand spanking new means there are bound to be as yet unresolved issues (ridiculous they should release a product before it's finished, but this, it would appear, is the modern way for software companies).

Everyone bangs on about how simple apple products are to use. I don't get it. My wife likes apple products so I have macs and iPhones in the house. I don't know how to use them. I'm sure if I gave it a bash I could work it in 10 minutes or less. Same as any other phone. Not exactly hard is it?

Funny, not a single person fighting the corner for windows phones or Nokia. H2Ocleaning you probably never even had a 3310? Everyone had a 3310, just like soon you will say everyone HAD an iPhone.

I've used macs since the early 80s (ex graphic designer) and still have an iMac, iPad and iPhone. I think they are good but very overpriced. My iPhone is the original 3G version which is still going strong so I can't be bothered to change it.
I'm certainly not as interested in all this new technology as I used to be. As long as it works, that'll do. Think I'm more interested in fat women!  ;D

I've had about 6 android phones, HTC, LG, Samsung etc.  All were ok, though I liked the HTC best.

The only problem is that IMO the Android operating system is inherently unstable.  The apps are not very carefully checked for function/bugs etc by the google play store, so often they either don't work properly or have some other issue.

Now I have an iPhone 5s that I bought from the apple store (contract prices were stupid IMO)

I do like it, for me the most important thing is that the operating system is absolutely stable, the camera is superb (I especially like the slo mo feature) and all the apps work perfectly.  There are also some annoyances though.

But the price! There's no doubt it is expensive (£640).  Hey ho, you pays your money and takes your choice!

IPhone is simple to use and both me and my wife can put whatever albums we want on our iphones out of itunes library  and then just plug in to truck when out driving .

Android phones do have glitches with apps etc and why the hell cant they make smaller high spec phones why does an S3-S4-S5 have to be the size of a brick  ??? ??? . Mike

iprison iTunes is the main reason for apple hatred. Free your music.

Why does everyone always only seem to see Samsung as the iPhone alternative? Samsung phones are 'plasticy' and sht. Anyway, Samsung appear to want to move away from android which will hopefully spell the end for them.

If you want a phone that is faster, better made, less wankie but similarly sized as the iPhone go for the HTC one mini. Don't though, just go ahead and get an HTC one M8. It is big but it is still the best phone ever made even after the release of the S5

iPhones are that good samsung copied and go sued for it:)

Indeed.  One of the things Apple has patented is having rounded corners on their phones.  No wonder Apple phones are better; only a company as inspired as Apple could think of rounded corners.

I think you're right.  Copying rounded corners on a rectangular phone is wicked.  Truly wicked and evil.  They should have made the corners razor sharp right-angles, as that's the obvious way to design a phone.  No-one but Apple could think that rounded corners are just a simple solution to the problem of making sensible corners for a phone.  Let's hope no car manufacturer patents rounded corners for cars or all the rest will be left in the lurch.

Keep up the lunatic defence of your brand of choice.

Vin

P.S. I should state here that I don't really care what phone anyone has; they are all as good as each other for 99% of what we all actually do with them.  I just think that the lunacy of the Apple fanbois is hilarious.

THERE WAS 7 BREACHES IN COPYRIGHT.
So yes the corners was one, but there is another 6.
And if samsung felt the need to copy 7 other things they must have realised apples newest product was going to be better.

Yes, and one of them was about how wonderfully Apple made the corners (of a phone made to go into someone's pocket) not sharp.  Hardly earth shatteringly "copied".  If Apple are going to sue on that basis, just how seriously should I take the other "patent infringements"?

By the way, back in the beginning, Apple stole the whole GUI idea from Xerox.  Xerox didn't sue, because they were grown up about it.

And as for size, people who want a bigger screen seem to need a bigger phone.  People who want a smaller screen can choose a smaller phone than the Apple.  Odd, that, that the screen size is related to the phone size.

I really am enjoying you becoming all aggressive and defensive about a phone that is, as I say, 99% identical to everyone else's.

i just want a smart phone that the battery lasts at least 12-13 hours of the day!
had every iphone since they came out but slowly lost hope in them every time they brought a new one out, theyre basically repackaged simple crap that people buy because they have an apple badge and people are used to the ios, ive played with android and it baffles me because it has so much more options than what apple give us but im sure i'd learn it quickly enough.
my iphone 5 wont last past 3-4pm and im constantly having to do a hard reset on it, my iphone 4 used to crack all the time, the iphone 3 was ok as there wasnt a massive deal out back then thatreally competed with it but i believe the galaxys are supposed to be better arent they?
didnt apple use samsung chips in the iphone 5?

read the comparison sites...? where millions of people who refuse to pay the money for iphones say how good their Samsung are and how they have lots of memory and can do more than a iPhone can blah blah blah!

For what its worth i was i big fan of apple until the new ios.....its shockingly bad....
The mrs has got a s4 and it seems decent enough although alot of the ideas for the (visual at least) interface seem to have been snapped from apple anyway!!

Purely down to the new ios being cack i'd probably change to android when i get a new phone...

Back on topic a bit, I've a HTC Wildfire S which has a tiny internal memory, so I'm constantly getting messages to clear apps and caches etc to free space. Luckily my contract is up next month and I want to swap phones. What should I get (seems the iphone is off the menu given battery life):

I use it to:
Make phone calls
Send 5 or 6 texts a week
Look at my beloved Rain Radar app to see if it's ever going to stop
Collect email

I don't use a lot of data and a camera / video isn't important, but size is.

Any suggestions for phones released in the last 6 months or so?

Cheers

Out of desperation, I got a bigger sim and stuffed it into an old Blackberry. (I know I know.)
I can upgrade in July and the contract ends in September and I still don't know whether just buy the next handset and go sim only.

The b/b gives me 3 days charged, send and receive emails from 3 accounts, texts and makes calls. It does everything I need but its slow and s51t looking.

Apple have done another update today according to my other half so will see if that improves her battery life.
