Title: brass connetor

i have a extracta hwe machine i have to use the brass connector to prime the pump, this is the connector normally used to drain the clean water tank when the finished the job.if i do not use this to start the water there is no water ,is this normal?

I had a special attachment with my stimvak that you could connect to your vacuum hose, to draw the solution through and prime the pump.
It was a way of extending the life of a pump that was becoming worn, that is probably what is happening with yours.
If you are happy doing that, it could last for a while yet,but a new pump will be needed eventually.
