I use a Prochem but just wanting something a bit smaller to use. Just looking about at moment seen these and thought I would ask take it these rug doctors are pants lol

NO I dont think the Rug Dr is /are pants. For a diy clean they do a reasonable job for the price of the hire charge. Now if the customer wants a deep restorative clean and a pro to do it for them, I would suggest that turning up with a RD might not be the best way forward.  If they want the work to be assured and insured, if they know you will go back if required, and if you want to make a decent living out of this biz, then you need to invest in some decent kit at some time. Just my thoughts... Simon

Funny I was on a training course and a guy was there who bought a rug doctor, he bought it without asking for advice, at the course he realized that carpet cleaning and Rug D have nothing in common. 

If budget is a problem look at the smaller single vac machines or a second hand one. Even a second hand prochem will be better than Slug doctor .

Try a sensei from ashbys.I have one fitted with a 3 stage vac and a 150 psi pump and it does loads of work to a good standard just needs emptying a little more which is no problem..............Alan

I use an Airflex Pro Mini from Cleansmart. An absolute gem of a machine - small enough to carry upstairs, but copes just as well commercial jobs.

mike ,have been considering Airflex pro as bnew backup to T/M and for those jobs that are tough to reach, how is yours setup,ie, vacs, pump and any heat?, thanks Simon

I'm considering the airflex mini, have you got one of the additional heater options  or do you think this is something that's not necessary? Any advice for an undecided newbie would be appreciated. Jon

Cheers, have done the NCCA course and have since been getting overwhelmed by the array of machines and specs.  Think I'm going to go for the Sensei from Ashbys with heated tank. Cheers again. Jon

You don't need a heater . A good crb is a must .
If you do need heat get a inline one
