Truckmount water usage.

When cleaning with a truckmount, roughly how many ltrs of water are you getting through per minute?

I know this will vary from model to model and the particular job your doing, but for a mid range machine cleaning a heavily soiled carpet, I'm just looking for some ball part figures.

at 500 psi i use about a gallon a minute
but i rarely use 500 psi

Hydramaster know better but mine is 5,5 gallons a min but don't know at what psi, also to consider is the dumping, some say not alot but in the summer it is significant.

Would be inclined to say that the smaller models have pumps up to 4 gallons per minute, to Shauns medium size machine at 5.5 gpm. Always remembering that you are not pulling the trigger continuously - so the amount of water you put down per minute is not the same as the pump capacity

When your TM is on and you are not keying the wand the water at a certain temp will divert the very very hot water to the dirty water tank as to protect the pump, the hotter the TM or the quicker it heats up the more it will dump so in the summer you get more dumping. Some dump more than others ie Alltec less, I fill up twice a day sometimes I have trick moments when I look for an outside tap at the customers and there isn't one and I have had to go home.

The worst thing about TM cleaning that I was unaware of was the correct running costs, £5 an hour was never stated and then there's the extras.

Cheap as chips when it's bought and paid for and then there's the breakage but it is a tool I can't do without don't want staff again.

It's amazing when I think back how many opportunities passed me by before I got the TM.

It's like I mentally was blinkered to 'big' area manky jobs and now they are popping up more and more.

I can also do them cheaper and still make far more money in a day. So any extra cost issues are really minor.

Trouble is I need more work, I'm finishing too soon now.

I'm not planning on buying one just yet Clinton.

I agree truckmounts are a great marketing tool and the time saved between jobs definately makes them more productive, but for those of us looking to the future and I'm not meaning to sound all eco about this, but when you read about water shortage across the UK ( I know hard to believe !! :: ) but in the near future water is going to become quite a costly commodity. you read it here first.

Now who's selling a dry compound ?? :

Now dry compound that's a blast from the past and that's be far more expensive then water, eco cleaning should be done with water as it is the only true eco cleaning available.

Had my first major TM problem today in four years and it was really self inflicted. Went to replace the exhaust gasket and the bolt snapped off. £300 for a new divert exhaust but £75 to get a local metal fabricator to redrill, thankfully. I had set aside the day for maintainance so all was not lost.

My Boxer uses about a full tank for a suite. Sometimes even a full tank on a dirty 14x12 lounge.

Basically the more passes you make or the longer you stop wanding the more it uses.

However as Shaun says I hear the Alltec machines dump very little.

Dumping, noise, fixing it and fuel consumption are the only drawbacks of owning a TM.

Means you will have to go home to refill as you caint really take all that water spec if there on a meter

Why cant you fill with the customers water - you plug into their electricity with a porty, and fill your machine up with their water with a porty.

Basically, as long as you wanding the machine doesnt dump.
You may use more water generally but that means the carpet is getting throughly washed.

Just added this, with a glide you can stand upright and wand one handed.
Plain wanding I get no backache, stairs and suites ok yes but thats the nature of those jobs.

flippin eck mark, a full tank on one lounge! you had better check that you don't have a leak somewhere, that is hard to believe. i have a boxxer 427 and often do a 3-piece and also the carpets in the house before needing to refill, that said it is a water cooled engine and i think that makes the differrence, my old air cooled blazer could get through the water on a hot day,

Sucked as much up as i put down,was rank beige pollyprop,kitchen on side of lounge,so very greasy + a dog into the equation,they didn`t take their shoes off even after the clean,and you get my drift ! cleaned once with extraction pro,then had to break out the double clean ! size was 16x9

I have a Prochem steempro s2000 with a 125 psi pump 45ltr capacity i think,only put 3 buckets in at a time so it does not fill up waste tank to top,sick of it sucking water

Beats me as to why all these t/ms' are using a tank of water for a lounge or 3 piece suite. Either they have extremely small tanks or they are not using the right prespray, allowing to dwell or agitate, depending on what material or the state of soiling.
All the t/m does is rinse extract. If you have broken down & loosened the soiling you shouldn't need more than one pass at reasonable speed

Used a trong mix of multi pro,then went over with a sebo ,then extrac pro,then double clean,should have just gone in straight with the dbl clean.loads of oil on bathroom carpet,

Billy, when you say you carry every tap connector around - how many is that.
and have you had any problem in the kitchen where they have not held and water flying everywhere whilst your elsewhere c/cleaning.

I just dont trust the connectors but would luv to know what you use and if any problems.

When you got a truckmount Clinton, you don't mind working afternoons. In fact some Sunday mornings I jump out of bed only to be disappointed when I realise it's my day off.
