What is your opinion on theses.
I have had a Rug Doctor for a while and only used it for a few jobs when I was quiet and have since just used it around the house.
How do they compare with other compact machines like the Truvox.

Rug Doctor, another good example of the power of marketing, there are so many examples in the cleaning industry its unbelievable, the companies that top it for me are the ones promoting steam mops as there are probably more steam mops thrown and left in the cupboard under the stairs than there are new ones for sale on the retail shelves.

I couldn't  agree with you more!  They estimate there are over 5,000,000 of them in cupboards in the UK alone that means around 8% of the population own a steam mop.  Only yesterday I saw a couple putting two into  their car laughing and saying that was two xmas presents sorted.  The bl**dy things are useless and that's why they only show one strip of tile being done.  The power of good marketing and TV ??? ??? ???

I think diy steam mops are a waste of time but wet or dry type steamers on the other hand are very good as you can clean so much more than just floors. Not only that they sanitise as well without the need to use harsh chemicals.

That's not marketing but fact  ;D

Regards to using a rug doctor type machines if you charge for a carpet cleaning service customers would expect that you turned up with professional kit and not something they could hire at a supermarket and do it themselves. Same goes if you turned up say to clean a block paving driveway with a diy type pressure washer I don't think they would be too impressed either.

Can you just imagine a customer geting two quotes to have their carpets cleaned and the other chap turns up with say a truck mount system and other specialist kit onboard that also happens to be properly insured, trained and qualified to do the work. I wonder who they would go with regardless if there was a  difference in price quoted ?  ::)roll

I not having a go but just saying if you're going to offer a chargable service you need to invest in the right kit for the job.

This vid made me laugh  ;D
