Liability insurance for contracting in hospitals
Posted by bonzer (bonzer), 12 January 2004
Hi,

Someone I know does a lot of contract cleaning work in a private hospital. He employs four staff plus himself.

When his liability insurance came up for renewal he was refused - despite no previous claims. After ringing around loads of insurance agents, they all told him that insurance companies don't want to insure contractors working in hospitals (something to do with a superbug virus type thing). Now his insurance is about to run out and he will have no cover.

Has anyone else had this problem?
Does anyone know of an insurance company that insures contractors working in hospitals?

Hope you can help!

Cheers

Matthew

Hi Matthew

Insurance companies are changing a lot of policies at the moment it doesn't surprise me that they won't provide reasonable cover at reasonable rates.

Have you tried Camberford Law (http://www.camberford-law.com/) they do a lot with the cleaning industry and would be the first place I would try.

Regards

Mike
